Metrino pods: How Modi government plans to decongest Delhi-Gurgaon roads

Delhi BRTS should be implemented with more planning, it still is working under capacity and is not preferred by the people as much as the Delhi Metro and if needed a monorail system like Mumbai should be introduced first rather then a Metrino.
i though delhi brts is being dismantled as it got failed

Operating costs are going to be heavy.... I don't think it can ferry more than 4-5 passengers a time. ... in a tourist area it might work
It should work between any two centers of high density population.

It is probably a bad idea for connecting residential areas to business centers as residential areas are normally diffuse and spread over a large area.

It would be a great idea for connecting two high density business areas, it takes traffic off the roads completely and provides prompt continuous service and last mile connectivity is usually very easily available in business districts. Like centre of CP to Gur. Business district.

.
That still doesn't give the operating costs... of course it's going to be heavy... it's already in dubai... could you point out how much a single trip would cost compared to the operating cost of a trip ??? And would it be possible for the general public of India to pay

Its going to be a private venture, so how the hell can I know who much they will charge to recover the cost. That will be known only when it is operational. The cost of transport will dependent on the business model, concession by govt. , Bank loan rate, access to govt. land etc.

I have never seen this in dubai. My understanding is that they had plans but scrapped it.

There is a demand for public transport and govt. should subsidise ventures like these to encourage private citizens to come up with more innovative solution. I feel confident that the public will use it.

I am more worried about the cost of maintenance. Who is going to clean the interior of each and every pod every day ? Its going to be a massive effort.

Are these pods going to be air-conditioned ? What happens when the AC unit breaks down ? what happens if it is not Air conditioned ? Summer will be hell to travel in a closed box like that.

A lot of questions that need to be answered.

So can somebody correct me if I am wrong ..but these pods can't have intermediate stops right?

It just has a starting point and a destination unlike a metro which can make many stops.?

So this is basically a different niche of public transportation?

Nope, it will be like a mix between cab & bus service and will make stops at various designated stops as directed by the passengers. Passengers need to enter their destination when they enter and the pod will take them there. Passengers can enter more than one destination and the pod will make the necessary stops ONLY at those stops.

Ok , I suppose I should just google this but I am curious .....so it looks like a conveyor belt of pods, so if a passenger needs to get off at one stop won't the pod behind him crash into him unless he stops too? So that would delay everything right because everyone has to stop at everyone else's stop? That can't be right......:o:

PS..you have some d@mn nice pictures by the way.

This problem can be avoided if the pods step of the main track and take a diversion for each of the stop. Once people embark or disembark, they can rejoin the main track.

This however is speculative. I am not certain who this will work in real life. I do not think such a system exist anywhere in the world yet so it will be a pioneering effort. Which of course means that it will come with all the risks that comes with such an attempt.

Korea has a similar concept that run on rails.
