On average, of every 100 female doctors that graduate, 50% of them do not continue with their medical career for so and so reasons (Female doctors becoming 'trophy' wives: Is quota the right move? - Blogs - DAWN.COM ), which means 50% of the scarce resources of this poor nation went in training them are lost. The situation is even worst for other disciplines, and extremely bad for non-professional (MA, MSc -type degrees) disciplines. Problem is, we are too good (or worst?) at mimicking West without taking into account our own cultural/societal dynamics that are 180o apposite to that of the West. In our society, males are the prime if not the sole earners, and I think many of them are deprived from their right to run their families when situation like this (50% not continuing with career) takes place. I am not at all apposing education for females or their representation in jobs, but there has to be a healthy balance, not based on how it is in the West, but in accordance to our cultural and societal norms. I do not know but how many of these female soldiers would continue with their careers? how well they'll manage between family and their apparently risky and physically (and psychologically) demanding job profile?I know these female commandos which some members think will fight TTP directly. They come with male commandos when ever there is a search op in slums etc and their job is to aid in house searches and body searching females, that's it. When ever there is a terrorist attack , every body calls army for help even their male counterparts are on outer cordons.
What was the need to make lady doctors of army airborne qualified? Well we did that because perhaps we are a rich nation with spare money and resources. A member even suggested that casualties would have been less if these ladies went in lal masjid instead of ssg, well what can I say I am speech less to that.
