My comment was not about Hinduism, but certain kind of Hindus, aka, seculars. Every living Hindu tradition is an anathema for them, superstition. Something to be looked down on, despised, derided, and condemned. But they are big on "essence of Hinduism" which for some strange reason looks just like Islam.

My heart beat is quite stable, although my stomach is impatient, nothing is more torturous than the sound of the food processor whirring away from within the kitchen and yet to not have a morsel at hand.

Meerut on boil over alleged gang-rape, forced conversion

According to Superintendent of Police (rural) Captain MS Begh, the 20-year-old woman's father had lodged a complaint last night in Kharkhauda police station against Village Pradhan Nawab Khan, cleric Sallaullah, his wife and daughter Nishant for abduction and rape, as per PTI. The victim later claimed that she had seen 40 more girls in the Muzaffarnagar madrasa. She said they have been kept in captivity in a secret underground room.

With tensions rising and BJP leaders demanding complete probe, the UP Police searched the said madrasa only to find – reportedly – around 15 girls who had been registered there as having come there on a vacation. Meerut District magistrate Pankaj Yadav today said that Sallaullah, his wife and daughter have been arrested. Since the incident occurred in Hapud, he said the final decision post magisterial inquiry into the matter will be taken by Hapud district magistrate.

It is not what I mean by essence of Hinduism but what the secular Bengalis and others modern Hindus mean by essence of Hinduism. It is Hinduism pared down of all its artifacts, all its sacred living traditions, its gods, goddesses, divinities, literature, history, its architecture, its temples, its entire ecosystem. For the secular Hindu, all this is superstition, village folk lore, something practiced by the ignoramuses, plebeian Hindus, the unenlightened ones. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I can understand why they converted, and then subsequently hid it.

It's called Opportunism. I suspect some people condemning the reservation system would gladly use it if it was available to them.

It is Human nature to subvert an use that system to benefit you, I have seen it happen in New Zealand.

One of my friends is a Dalit Christian convert. I visited his home, which has got a pooja room having all Hindu gods and goddesses. The family carries out all Hindu daily rituals in the pooja room. They even worship Jesus like a Hindu god.

Very few people are capable of living dual life. They usually become what they pretend to be.
