Beef eating protest by Madras HC advocates
CHENNAI: To the amusement of litigants and general public visiting Madras high court, a group of lawyers conducted a 'beef eating' protest on court campus on Friday.

Though there is no law banning cow slaughter in Tamil Nadu, protesting lawyers said they were condemning last week's law in Maharashtra putting in place a stringent law banning cow slaughter, transportation and even possession of beef.

Earlier this week, responding to the Maharashtra ban, Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan had demanded Tamil Nadu to follow suit and enact a law.

Lawyers said they apprehended that Tamil Nadu government might listen to the Hindu Munnani leader, and added that today's protest was a preemptive measure.
