Massive flooding in Zhengzhou, Henan

Yes you can predict the volume of rain with reasonable accuracy - accurate enough to evacuate and move people to high ground. In Germany, people died because they ignored flood alerts and evacuation orders. I can't understand why anyone would go underground when torrential rain is expected. Underground is the worst place to be. My question is why was the underground/ subway even operational and why would anyone choose to be underground during floods.

It was Monday morning, and this government agency’s supercomputer, a machine the size of a hockey rink, had just generated a model forecast predicting with over 90% certainty and a precision down to 2 square kilometers that a string of West German communities would likely be befallen by severe flooding by late Wednesday.

Nonsense, the heavy rain in Germany is unsual and caught everybody off guard. There are areas in highland Germany which get flooded too. More or less shoe how severe is it. I guess you can't differential what is extreme and normal.

Just like 2011 Japan tsuanmi when some Japanese evacuate to 5th high building which they thought was safe. End up they still got washed away.

The rain in Henan is too fast and too furious which gives no time for warning and stop subway. There is nothing to blame on anybody. If u want to blame, blame heaven or God.

Nonsense? I just posted a source saying the German Met office warned local residents of flooding two days before the floods. Their prediction was 90% accurate as to the exact volume of the downpour within an area of 2 square Km. Are you saying the Chinese lack the same capability?

Flooding in highland? :o:Tsunami in Japan? Oh boy! No point discussing this any further With you.

good day beastie:lol:

Did Merkel say it will be the most serious flood ever encounter in Germany, tell me? If you can point to real proof she can predict it will be the most serious flood 2 days before it struck. I eat back my word.

So how do China know it will be the most serious rain ever encounter in 1000 years time and that can flood Henan subway in just a hour of rain? You think CCP is God?

It's so typical, according to Anti-China troll

Whenever disaster happen in China, must be government fault.
Whenever disaster happen in the west, must be nature fault.

This is written by the person that helped set up the forecasting system used by the Germans.
Now be a man and eat your words. Thank you.

The German weather service, DWD, had independently forecast extremely high rainfall tooand issued warnings for more than 200 mm of rain in the same areas several days ahead of time, saying that flooding was possible. Regional warnings were also issued, for example by the Environment Agency in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, one of the areas hit particularly hard by flooding.

The floods that did happen matched the scale and distribution of those that were forecast several days before. I was very surprised, therefore, that so many people died, given that authorities knew about the event and had sufficient warnings to get people to safety before the floods began.

The ins and outs behind the scene of "everyone swimming breaking windows to save people" in the video circulated on the Internet were interviewed and restored by a reporter from Jiefang Daily(Liberation Daily).

This is a particularly awesome and exciting story. The calmness, wisdom, fearlessness, courage and love shown by both the rescued and the savior at the moment of life and death make the "isolated island" in the floating water appear gleaming. This is where the hope of humanity lies!

At the same time, I think this is also a self-help case that can be written into a textbook, and it deserves more people to understand. Let me summarize this news:

Grandma went to the kindergarten to pick up her grandson and granddaughter home. During the heavy rain, the car engine stalled on the road. The flood water soon flooded up to the car door. The three people in the car are at risk.

Grandma first called her daughter for help. When daughter received the call, her first reaction was to call the police. But at the time, all the emergency line were busy.

The daughter asked her grandmother to tell her exactly where the car was flooded. The grandmother reported to her daughter the names of the surrounding shops she could see on the phone: a JD convenience store, a hotel, and a noodle shop.

The daughter searched for takeaway and review software and found the phone number of the convenience store owner first. At the same time, she asked for help in her social media circle of friends.

At the time, the convenience store owner was arranging emergency preparation in another store a few kilometers away. Without saying a word, he called the hotel next to the convenience store and told the people in the hotel: There is someone in a flooded car in the middle of the road at the entrance, go and save them!

The security director of the hotel who was fixing computer in the lobby received the call and rushed out with an 18-year-old employee of the hotel. The only tool they could find was a kitchen knife.

The water has gone through the car window. The security director climbed up the car first and tried to smash the front windshield and sunroof with the kitchen knife, but failed.

At this time, a young street dance teacher who had taught children not far from the place where the incident happened saw the social media message posted by the child’s mother and rushed over. He took off his clothes and swam towards the middle of the water, dragging through branches. Although he was a short distance away, both his bag and cell phone were lost.

More people have discover the scene of "Lone Island" saving people. They all converged to the isolated island. A passerby in a black raincoat handed the street dance teacher a hammer. However, the hammer was too small to break the glass even after several tries.

After various efforts failed, they continued to rescue them, but they also called out loudly for help.

The owner of the noodle shop nearby, who heard the call for help, swam toward them with a bigger hammer in the shop. This is a key rescue tool. At this point, the water almost passed the roof of the car.

The noodle shop owner climbed onto the roof of the car and first put a small hole in the rear windshield of the car. The first passerby that brought the small hammer talked through this small hole to comfort the grandmother and the two children in the car.

By this time, the rear left window of the car was broken open. The street dance teacher dragged the little boy out and received it on the roof of the car.

More people swam to the "island" and joined the rescue. Someone sent a big blue bucket, fearing that the child would choke water, they put the child in the bucket and sent it to safety.

The girl was also rescued. Finally, the elderly grandma.

The rescued and rescuers all squeezed on top of the roof of the car with the child in the middle. Someone held up a big red umbrella for the child.

The photographer of that video told reporters: "This picture is like an isolated island in the ocean, but this island is full of power and hope."

The names of the rescuers are: Lu Lianlian, Li Kunpeng, Wang Zhilei, Li Xiang...

Stop shifting goalpost. Where did it predict it will be the worst flood ever hit Germany? I am asking a simple question which u yet to answer, I am still waiting for your real answer.

Extremely highfall does not equal to worst rainfall and flood ever hit Germany. No German can knew the magnitude of it until you tell them it will be worst ever. Do u want me to get an english teacher to help you understand the different?

Why did he draw cartoons and make fun of the dead like the Chinese media did on the wuhan virus deaths in India ?
The super efficient Chinese communist government is being exposed on a yearly basis by these unrelenting floods.
Last year too many Chinese cities got totally flooded and so many died. I thought all the dam building would have resolved this age old problem in china ?
I get the feeling that the Chinese government doesn't really care about its citizens or else in 80 years of communism, all these problems would have been tackled.

I’m asking a legitimate question a 150 people died in Germany their problem wasn’t advanced warning. Their weather services predicted the rainfall with a 90% accuracy days before.

In Germany a combination of factors resulted in avoidable deaths.
- residents ignored the warning to evacuate but sheltered in place
- the government failed to act effectively

I’m asking a simple question why did people take the underground when they knew floods were expected. Why didn’t local government shut down the underground service?

I‘m not sure why this topic is sensitive. Yes people died in Texas too during the winter freeze did I stop the Chinese from discussing it?

My last post on this topic. Good day..

Good luck expecting the Chinese here to acknowledge that their communist government screwed up by not closing the subway. They have a need to look superior and are not used to probing questions. Probably will throw tantrums now.
