Massacre against shiite in Nigeria

How do you kill one thousand people in a raid on a home? I read his home was raided and he was taken. I haven't seen anything indicating otherwise. Which human rights organizations are saying this? And on what basis/proof they have?

Well in Japan we live in a secular society that teaches appreciation of other's faith. We have Muslims, Christians, living in harmony with the majority Shinto and Buddhist practitioners. In fact we even have Shinto practitioners attending Christian churches and even Muslim mosques to experience prayer in those areas. As we believe in universal 'truths' in each religion.

It is just radical for me as Japanese who comes from a land where practitioners of different faiths get a long -- to hear about Muslims killing other fellow Muslims, or Christians killing Muslims, or vice versa.

In this modern age, are we not going to rise above minor differences and focus on collective good? Hmm. I wish the MIddle East could adopt more collectivist ideology instead of rabid tribalism....

Moderators need to see what you're posting. Essentially damning Muslims and implying they should all be Christian.

That's sweet, but the fact that there is tolerance between religions does not mean that it has helped reduce divisions but that the reduction of divisions exist IN SPITE of the religion.

And current tolerance of religion in Japan does not predict future activities. In Syria, religious identify meant very little, but now it is tearing people apart.

Where did i say Christians were better? The Crusades were a Christian catastrophe was it not? I am talking about implementation of a collectivist ideology being a reparatory measure for the whole Middle East. The useless sectarian conflict will negate development and will ultimately (as is being realized) lead to regional stagnation. To rise above requires the practitioners of various faiths and various sects of Islam to cooperate with each other.

The raid was one part of it. The real crisis seems to have been when there was a shia protest which was blocking the road to an army convey which probably caused some conflicts, where the army fired upon the protestors.

The army claims they were attacked by a petrol bomb while the protestors claim they were unarmed.

If there is an investigation, we might get to know more but most likely everyone will forget in a week.

If true very sad .. Such massacres won't create peace but will only create more unrest and many new groups will emerge which will result in nigeria fighting more terror groups... It is already failing miserably in handling book haram who are freely doing operations against the people of Nigeria.

Such senseless massacres shows the mentality of African regimes. I truly wish that peace can be established but the way things are going I just can't find a solution out of it.

It is indeed very sad. When i was in graduate school i took 4 courses on Islam and 2 other electives on the history of the middle east. My professor in Islamic studies was originally from Syria, and had showed us pictures of his native town. I had wanted to visit Syria then. I still do. Now i cannot due to this conflict.

This is truly devastating for many who love the history of the region.

Look for the effect of the petrodollar otherwise I can't find any reason for the Nigerian army to attack a mosque filled with civilians.

Shiite don't carry arms against no one unless that one is intruder.

Just compare the action of the Turkish against the Russian's plane where they downed it within 17 seconds against the Iraqi government where it trying hard to use diplomatic approach to fix the problem Turkey offensive action.

Shiite a peaceful nation. We will prevail while they will fail no doubt.

My friend with all due respect to all regions but in human history and achievements I can say this.

The World Is That Region,And That Region Is the World.

I know this might sound too much but all the civilization start from their Religions start their.

I believe that in its purity and essence the Religion of Islam is a Religion of Peace. It is up to the practitioners of that Faith to put aside minor political differences and find commonality and repudiate heresies. Which is what ISIS is. A heresy of the purity that is Islam.

The World Is That Region,And That Region Is the World.

Of course. It is the Cradle of Civilization.

Nobody ethnic cleans the Sunnis its the other way around
Yeah, when 10 million people fled from Assad's daily barrel bombs. Thats not ethnic cleansing. o_O
When South Aleppo which was populated just two months ago by 100,000 Syrian Sunni peasants is now populated by Iraqi/Iranian sectarian thugs is not ethnic cleansing. o_O

I didn't know you care about the Sunnis or you just trying to start a fight
I just said that thugs who are murdering poor people in Aleppo should instead protect their bros in Nigeria.

You should go back to Europe
Who are u to tell me? I never lived in Europe by the way.

I think Iran will now get its first foothold in Africa.

So where's the Iranian backed "African Hezbollah" mercenaries? I'm sure if this news is true then the Nigerian army acted in self defense against these goons.

There is no massacre that happened in Nigeria. Shites are a tiny tiny percentage of Muslims in Nigeria mostly in Zaria state.

Incident happen when Nigerian army chief convoy and a Shite procession ended up on same road. Procession refused to make way for Army Chief while soldiers tried to push them away. Things got ugly and soldiers feared surrounding of army chief by protesting shites. They opened fire. Security situation of Nigeria should be kept in mind here. However use of excessive force is also likely by soldiers. They subsequently raided a house where more casualties occur. Exact figure varies from source to source but is nowhere close to what pro Iran members suggest. Iran however did summon Nigerian envoy to ask explanation. So there is that.
