But I do agree that China, if it opens up, will see much higher death rates and healthcare system under pressure for the first few months. Singapore has built up a very high level of immunity through multiple waves of infections since last year and very high levels of triple-dose mRNA vaccinations.

HK currently is still somehow reporting much higher death rates than Singapore despite still having more restrictions than us. I think China will be more like HK than like Singapore if it opens up.

Newest data around world showed the covid is not a flu. Taiwan has lost 10,000 lives since it gave up zero covid policy. Germany lost 100,000 lives in recent half year.

CCP feels so cheated. Give them the medal for the best virus may be ?
And then China can also burn their dead on the open streets , parks and parking lots or dump the dead into rivers to the point of blocking water flow with many washed ashore for wild dogs?

There are so many erudite well read highly accomplished doctors epidemiologist and scientists of Chinese origin. They should really band together are urge Xi and CCP to launch a china scale vaccination program with biontech Pfizer, Moderna, AZ vaccines, even as they try to open up the country. Yes it will amount to admitting their folly so far but peoples lives are more important- ie if CCP can change itself to start thinking of Chinese people as human beings.

That's upto CcP but going by their history they'll probably sell the bodies to make burgers of them to help reduce food cost in xingjiang concentration camps (aka re-education ctrs).

Students in Chengdu city hold rally and vigil for the Urmqi fire victims

I think Xi shall let the Chinese citizen to bear consequence for themselves if they want to lift the covid zero policy. They need to understand there will be sacrifice for more freedom and personal space.

Another CIA work. Police should record these sobs and make an investigation. I do understand people's dissatisfaction to the zero covid policy. But all those who used Urmqi fire as an excuse must be connected with CIA money.

Wumao just wants to show the world the world that people in China are indeed allowed to protest.

If Chinese gov keeps lock downs to confine people all the time, it will affect the populations at large in a serious negative way and people can easily get angry and rebel esp when they see people are free to gather to watch world cup in Qatar. If some people die becos of uncontrolled free gatherings of the populations, then it only affect a very small percentage of the population, the vast majority wont feel about it as in the US, and people are unlikely to rebel at large.

Its not as easy as you think, you see now more people died from accident than covid, is all due to lockdown and strict policy that prevent many Chinese from covid death. Yes, it frustrating to disrupt lifes. But just becos mass death of covid didnt happened doesnt mean zero covid policy is ineffective. I do agree a balance need to be strike.

I just hope those Chinese citizen dont regret if China lifted zero covid policy and their loves one and friends start dying from covid infection. And then start blaming Chinese government for failing to protect them from covid. They make the choice, dont regret it.

The question is: Who the fvck has the right to put others' LIVES in danger in the name of their freedom?

Yes, I also think Chinese gov should strike a more balanced way, not so restrictive in lock downs, maybe Chinese gov is too cautious now becos of the horrifying experience of Wuhan out break.
