Chairman Mao was a great leader. He had the foresight which most leaders of his time lacked. Despite all those claims of his excesses it is the end result of his actions which must be examined and the end result is current day China. When once asked why he refuted that he was a saint, Nelson Mandela replied "If sinners can be converted to saints then indeed I am a saint". No leader of a great society could lead that society into greatness without formulating an ideology or plan which was to be unconditional in its initial application. To accuse Chairman Mao of being a ruthless leader is tantamount to accusing the founding fathers of the USA of being ruthless leaders simply because they failed to do away with slavery or they killed numerous monarchists who supported the rule of England over America. If Chairman Mao was a human rights activist who carefully weighed up each and every action which he took against the finer needs of each and every Chinese citizen, then China today wouldn't be in existence or would most probably be still ruled by either the Japs or some European nation. Chairman Mao's greatness and achievements as the founding father of Communist China mustn't be hog-washed by stupid untested rumors
