What's new

Mao Zedong's 120th birthday anniversary

Well, I am a bit short on time right now, so I will just cover Mao's contribution regarding to Chinese agriculture.

Food is the cornerstone of the society and in order to feed a modern nation, you need modern agriculture techniques, which mean farming machine, pesticide, chemical fertilizer, reliable irrigation. Let's first talk about farming machines: Tractors are one of the most often used machine in agriculture production. The very first Chinese tractor factory produced is found in 1958 at Jiangxi Province, Nanchang City. Pesticide and Chemical fertilizers both require petroleum to be made. Farming machines also require petroleum products to run. The very first Chinese oil field is the Daqing field which is found during the aggressive expansion of Great Leap forward. Because Daqing, China never suffered another famine. Irrigation is another foundation of modern agriculture. While Mao's China did not have the expertise to build titanic structures like the three gorge dam, they were quite capable and did build a large number of water reserve and small hydro stations. Many of them still operates until today. Did you wondered why China is producing more food than India (as well as the next two countries combined) despite having less land devoted for agriculture? These are the reasons. Without farming machines, farmer's productivity is low. Without pesticides, the crop will be ruined by pests. Without fertilizers, you would drain the land dry and without dams and reservoirs, you can't store water for dry season and prevent flood during wet season.

Mao has plenty of other contributions. Infrastructure, education, medicare, economy, technological progress, military achievements. China is powerful today because Mao and subsequent leaders each laid powerful foundations for their successors.

Oh, one of the biggest jokes is that some countries want to copy Deng's economic achievements, but unwilling to go through Mao's work first. Guess what, you can't build a skyscraper without working on the foundation first.

Duh, there is no national wide war after 1950 BECAUSE PRC WAS ABLE TO PREVENT THE OPPONENTS FROM ENTERING CHINESE BORDER. The Japanese "war machine" doesn't hold a candle to US military and PRC did just fine against it.

The ability to ward off foreign aggression does not give communist to kill 30 millions in peace time Great Leap Forward within 3-4 years. The Sino Japan WW2 killed 26 millions in 8 years, far less than what communist did.

As I have mentioned, Mao legacy is a mix bag. He unite China and build a strong army which is a pre-requisite for China's emergence. His tyranny is unparalleled.

Very few people in China actually think that 袁腾飞 is a sane person.

Yuan Teng Fei went CCTV. His exposed of Mao must have support from powerful people in China.

Yang JiSheng 杨继绳, the vice chairman of China's elite Yan Huang Chun Qiu 炎黄春秋, a magazine related to the liberal wings of the elite Chinese say about Great Leap Forward as below. Yang is from Xinhashe, 新华社,the mouth piece of China.

Mao and his art below. But I have no doubt that every single person below is scumbag and murderer. They deserve these shitt.

This is Xi Jinping's dad. but Xi Jinping is still extremely pro-Mao, because he knows that Mao's positive contribution for China can never be denied.

That is why I say Mao is Qin Shihuang and he himself admit and aspire to be more than Qin Shihuang. You never come to conclusion with this man even after his death, for thousand of years -- just like Qin Shihuang.

Even for Xi Jinping, his dad was a victim of the cultural revolution, but he can still forgive Mao.

You live in Singapore, and Mao never hurt any of you, there is no reason to hate Mao that much unless you are an anti-China spy on the CIA payroll.

I am concern with truth.

Mao did the most important thing, unified China, that is the marquee trade of any leader. The millions that died would have died, even if 神先 was real, those people would not have survived given the state of China at that time.
His only bad idea was cultural revolution, probably because he listened to his wife. In my book, he made China respectable, even if those people unfortunately perished. He did what he had to do, 千方百計.

If you believe in middle eastern fairytale, lol.

Logic.

Only if you're Buddhist, but unlike Christian hell, no one suffers eternally.

Well, many Chinese are Buddhist. Still, you don't wasn't to be there even if you don't suffer eternally...

OP, you overestimated KMT and Chiang Kaishek. KMT are totally incapable to lead this country. China was a shitty mess under their rule. No industry, no enough food, no peace. Check out how the KMT troops performed during Sino-Japan war. I can't help feeling shameful for Chiang Kaishek and his KMT.

Mao did many terrible things. But his army defeated all foreign enemies, including US, USSR. Which is an honor to all Chinese. Other contributions of Mao are: establishing industry system for China and rooting the conception of "everyone is equal" into every Chinese soul.

We lost a lot because of Mao. We achieved a lot because of Mao. What we lost can be compensated as time goes by. But we may never got these achievements if not for Mao.

When did KMT ruled? China was in fragmentation since 1911 and Chiang Kai Shek was a "school principal" in 1927. By 1937, she was still fragmented.

Chiang's and students with a little more than 10 years combat experience are able to take on the Japanese empire. The British in Malay collapse in 2 month.

Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos will not go communist.

After Mao, no one dare to screw China.

Mao is definitely a tyrant. He will be a controversial person for a long time to come.

That would partly thanked to Vietnam nailed the western imperialism in Vietnam and Russia for countered U.S. influence in Asia. Otherwise you Chinese could had be experimental for U.S. to test their supreme weaponry, let just say U.S. won the war in Vietnam, what the next step they could had done?

Another thing, it was not Mao that brought Communism to Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh was long time disciple of Stalin and Lenin. Mao's ideology has little to none influence on Vietnam. Vietnam's communist official stated that in an interview with BBC when was asked influence of Mao over Vietnam in the past.

So from 1927 to 1937, Chiang Kai Shek got 10 years rule. What did he do during the relatively peaceful 10 years? China's heavy industry hadn't made any progress! Or even declined! Stalin spent 10 years to change the USSR from a agricultural country into a heavy industry country. That's the reason why they defeated Germany and China was trampled by Japan.

Mao beat back UN ally's troops in Korea only one year later when PRC was established.

Peaceful? And it is 1928-1937, and Chiang Kai Shek did not rule most part of China, just the South East. You must have failed you history.

There is a 黄金十年 that Japanese destroyed.
黃金十年 - 维基百科,自由的百科全书

Nevertheless I have to admit Stalin is able to perform greater feat, but Stalin started off much better as Russian was way better educated and more exposed to modern science.

Stalin did unite Russia. Chiang did not unite China.
