Maldives Snubs India Again, Inks Power Sector Deal With Pakistan
The move is seen as another snub to India after it recently scrapped a helicopter deal with New Delhi.
Pakistan and the Maldives have signed a Memorandum of Understanding or MoU to support the island nation's infrastructure development in the power sector. The move is seen as another snub to India after it recently scrapped a helicopter deal with New Delhi.
U still stuck in that 2012 SupaPowa vision? Wake up and smell the coffee. The power games are being played by actual superpowers of the world...India is nothing but a pawn at best being used by the West to keep China busy. China is the main threat as an emerging power that might challenge the status quo of already established world powers.I really dont understand why Pakistanis are jumping so much even though power games are being played by India and China and recently china is on a losing streak in island nations in IOR.
Oh so u mean India is willingly losing out money from this infrastructure project that would clearly have gone to some Indian firm just out of benevolence? And yet here we have Pak members all happy like they have won some kind of war in maldives.
Its just 1 commercial contract, and honestly in present scenario if India says so maldives would cancel the project with pak and give it to some India company but we wont do that coz we dont operate like China.
It doesn't matter...Pak's making plenty of military sales. U don't need to worry about it.And forget about any military deal with them, they aint paying a dollar for any arms and equipment, their priority is to pay back loans and balance it with infra needs for which India is providing financial aid.
We don't have a problem with Myanmar using Jf 17s because they will be used to kill Rohingya terrorists. If this is the reason, you should have liked sale of our aircraft to Maldives as well.. lolll
I wonder if China will buy JF 17s? It is pretty telling that the country that made those fighters wants nothing to do with them.lol . they should go and wail to China .
Malaysia and Indonesia. Previously those countries were pro China, but now they are rejecting key OBOR projects. Indonesia even let us develop a port into a naval base that happens to sit right next to the Strait of Mallaca, which we can use in theory to cut off almost all trade with China. And Chinese influence in South Asia is declining. Even Nepal is realizing that China cannot replace India due to its geography, which is why India and Nepal are already connected while China is still "exploring" the feasibility of tunnels through the Himalayas.U still stuck in that 2012 SupaPowa vision? As for having regional control and China somehow losing at that to India...go read the news from the last few years. Nepal and Maldives that used to be strictly in Indian camp recently strained their ties with India and roped in China as a counterbalance. Was India able to counter Chinese influence in countries that have been traditionally in Chinese camp? Nope. Idk in what universe would one country consider itself victorious by losing grips on two traditionally close allies at the hands of its foe.

All of these are tall claims about what India can or can't do. Why not back up ur words with actions? I'm sure Indian companies wouldn't mind making a decent profit...go ahead and take this project away from Pak.

Indonesia/Malaysia weren't in the Chinese camp as Nepal/Bhutan/Maldives are with India. Indonesia/Malaysia just kept ties with China...neither hostile nor super friendly. The recent tensions between them doesn't have anything to do with them suddenly picking India over China or anything. It has to do with the rising power of China, which makes them uncomfortable as far their interests go. So in short India didn't sway any super pro China countries...where as China did to a certain extent(recently Maldives/Nepal).Malaysia and Indonesia. Previously those countries were pro China, but now they are rejecting key OBOR projects. Indonesia even let us develop a port into a naval base that happens to sit right next to the Strait of Mallaca, which we can use in theory to cut off almost all trade with China.
U r right...one of the main reasons Nepal was close to India was not only bcuz of somewhat of a shared culture/religion(Hinduism) but also Nepal being landlocked. Nepal couldn't be at odds with India and survive. However the recent demonstration of Nepal playing China card with India has shown that Nepal has opened its eyes to new possibilities. While it doesn't necessarily mean that Nepal would become enemies with India...it can however reduce its reliance on India in the future, which it couldn't before. Thereby charting its own path rather than being somewhat of a satellite state. And Chinese influence in South Asia is declining. Even Nepal is realizing that China cannot replace India due to its geography, which is why India and Nepal are already connected while China is still "exploring" the feasibility of tunnels through the Himalayas.
That's not true. It's not at all a fact that China's influence in the region is waning. Just compare China's influence today to China's influence in the 1970s. It has only grown...while there is a setback in case of Sri Lanka...it's not enough for other countries to turn away from China. This is bcuz when all is said and done...money talks...and China has plenty to offer. Not just loans but infrastructure development, technology, industry. It is reasons like these that Chinese companies have been grabbing development projects in various different countries. The fact is China's influence is waning throughout Asia. Countries have seen what happened to Sri Lanka and have learned their lesson. The Maldives election is one example. Right now, the only countries that wan Chinese investment are led by dictators like Abdullah Yameen, Mahinda Rajapaksha, and the presidents of Laos and Cambodia. The recent actions in Sri Lanka shows China's desperation. However, it backfired, and Sri Lankans now see China for what it really is. currently the entire Parliament and most Gov. Officials are refusing to accept Rajapaksha's legitimacy, and China will not be able to get more deals there.
a free gift is better than an aircraft on loan.
Nothing beats freebies.Maldives will accept Indian dornier instead
Indian helicopters are donated.Rremember this?
Now dont get your expectations too high and calm down.

Yeah, woke up and smelt the coffee and realised China has been kicked out of maldives, its in progress in Malaysia and cant do more jack shit in Sri Lanka. Oh wait, it tried, Tried to get Rajpaksa into office, he got thrown out again and Wickramsinghe still rules.U still stuck in that 2012 SupaPowa vision? Wake up and smell the coffee.
Looks like its u who needs to read some news. Yes Nepal is still a work in progress, we will get there, but Maldives is done deal.As for having regional control and China somehow losing at that to India...go read the news from the last few years. China did, look what it got them, lost the influence they had built in these countries whereas we got ours back by spending peanuts compared to China's crapload of dollars. Why shall we make the same mistake of going out there ruthlessly whereas same results can be achieved with patience, our patience paid off.Why not back up ur words with actions?
That's peanuts, we just gave $1.4bn aid alongwith other assurances. it can certainly be done, do u really think they would say no?Oh so u mean India is willingly losing out money from this infrastructure project that would clearly have gone to some Indian firm just out of benevolence?
We care about our interests in IOR. You would be wise to remember these words when ur debt becomes unsustainable and China refuses to bring in 3rd party (How's KSA's participation btw?)India is nothing but a pawn at best being used by the West to keep China busy
Wise words. Money talks. This is bcuz when all is said and done...money talks...and China has plenty to offer. Not just loans but infrastructure development, technology, industry.

I'm not making this point as a d*ck measuring contest just to put down India or anything. It's just a fact that China is rising...
...and with all that development/industry/technology/money comes influence and power.
Oh of course Chinas power is rising. But it's influence within most countries is falling no
