“Make in India” for HAL trainer, import of Swiss trainer capped

.
The Tejas will act in the LIFT role; there is nothing else that Tejas Mk1 can do. And do not rule out simulators entirely; though i'd say that you know more about them than I do.

Simulators may be good, but those too come in later. As such the Tejas is a good LIFT but it is still more of a handful that one could expect a IAF pilot coming off the Hawk to handle. The Simulator may train them for the Tejas and perhaps avoid that awkwardness of a nimbler jet but it is better to have them prepared in that role instead of having it thrust on them.

There is a reason why the T-38 was there and why aircraft like the KAI T-50 and Yak-130 will sell.

do we have any 'goshawk' like upgraded naval trainers for carrier practice ?

how are IN mig pilots trained, simulators and real thing directly ?
The IN has nothing like the T-45s right now unfortunately.

After going through BTT training at the IAF academy the IN pilots are trained on IN Hawk AJTs and then sent to the US to earn their carrier qualification then train on the MiG-29KUB at the SBTF before moving on to the real thing at sea.

As I've heard told; the Tejas Mk1 will work well as the LIFT phase after the Hawk phase. Something that the IAF has also cottoned on to. Hence the proposal to enhance the armament capability of the Hawks to make it more seamless.

Or Hawk mk 120 which is a LIFT variant of the trainer.

HAL has wasted years on this project. Now they have been rewarded for their incompetence.

The air force is now going to have 2 BTT's.

This is a disaster.

HAL is allowed to screw up and get away with it just as before.

If the next Carrier is EMALS equipped; then watch out for the Goshawks with IN.

Now recall the "Peter Principle"....... :)

The Hawk-120 has disadvantages in its inability to go supersonic. It is the same reason that most F-5B and T-38 operators are persisting with their aircraft..they provide a very stable and yet nimble platform to provide that training bracket.

. .
really ?

what kind of training do they get in the US, real world carrier practice on their boats or... ?
They get the same training as fresh US naval aviators and earn their carrier qualification there:
