Guys keep it civil.
Without major funding in healthcare, we shouldn’t expect to hold patents for medical drugs. First we should become major producers of generics, after grabbing enough international market share, we can think about R&D
Need to close domestic market demand completely dominated by local manufacturing... right now around 80% market share.

That API park under construction need to complete ASAP. We are late at everything. Without manufacturing API we can't compete in international market.

I’m surprised 10k vials gonna cost India 1.6 million usd
It cannot be helped, the medicine has high demand worldwide. A drug company uses a lot of money and time on collecting samples, and doing laboratory, animal and human experiments etc. The cost may be too high to produce the medicine. This is why the price will remain high until WHO allows other companies to get license from the US company and produce it in volume.

In the case of BD, it seems that a BD company is eligible to produce a generic one without getting approval from the parent company. This is what under WTO rules for LDC. I thought BEXIMCO is producing it under a license.

No they were approached by the American parent company.

Beximco didn't need a licence, because WTO gives LDCs a waiver.

The waiver lasts until 2033, to make full use of it and galvanize our pharmaceuticals sector, I suggest not taking up on graduation from LDC.

We have a long way to go, simply gunning for title that will inadvertently harm our industry is a bad move.

We should defer it to beyond 2030 atleast.

Do not please imagine things.

I can't the thread a couple weeks ago, but someone posted the a sky news video clip in this Bangladeshi section. If I am correct I am very the beximco exec said they were approached.

Perhaps, this is the video clip you speak of.

By the way, the channel that hosts this video on YouTube is his excellency's personal YouTube channel, used for shameless self promotion.

Because you have the LDC classification to get the production right for something under patent (under certain emergency circumstances I believe). One would think/hope any 50+ million people LDC could do similar. You are 3-4 times that threshold.

India is not an LDC, does not enjoy that automatic route.

Pharma (when its level playing field) really is not something you want to compare to India I'm afraid....judging by how you did in 2019 in exports there after all the big promise and multi-page threads about it in years prior as some sunrise industry for "diversification". So don't start down that line. Improve your core competence first as a country and people when you get to middle and high level incomes.

BD does not need a license nor does it get any help from patent company... !! BD on its own and rolled this med out within 2 weeks of NIH published and FDA approved it.... does that say you anything? No, because you are an idiot.
