Mumbai Metro inauguration on Sunday

Not only that, there should a work permit system in place just like in Gulf countries. In Gulf, if you are an expat you have to fulfill certain conditions like having a minimum wage for you to get family status. It should be implemented in India so that the strain on local infra structure along will be minimized especially in large cities. Also it will stop the mushrooming of slums.

totally agree with u there.

Raj thackrey is on it. he has stated in many of his interviews that he will keep record of the immigration in mumbai specially from up and bihar. he also publicly advised modi that 1nce became PM, plz pay special attention on progress of UP and bihar so that strain on maharashtra reduces.
Maybe movement from Maharashtra should also be checked because Maharashtra is pretty much UP and Bihar other than the major cities.Maharashtra is in the same league of UP,Bihar,Madhya Pradesh when it comes to poverty.

dude you goin way off topic. we are not talking about poverty. we talking about immigration. no unskilled labour goes from mumbai to patna for working. we dont want any more burden in this city.

Guys, how about the ticket price?

price of ticket wary from minimum 25 US cents to maximum 75 cents

But surely a lot move from the rest of Maharashtra to Mumbai also or they don't count ?

mumbai is a city and not state. and centre gives fund to different states for development of that state and not city. raj thackrey asked modi to pay special attention to less devoloped states like UP and bihar so that they dont need to migrate to other cities specially cities of MH.
and
we wer talking about migration from other states to MH and movement within MH or mumbai or bandra or my house does not count.

Mindwell that we are not against migration from other states but there has to be some sysytem in place to keep a check on these migrants.
if u get a chance to visit a police station in mumbai u will come to know that most(above 70%) of the crimes commited within mumbai are from these(Up/Bihari) immigrants. they commit crime here and run back to there states.

inside info- these states dont even coopertae properly with the mumbai police in these criminal investigation coz even the govt officials there are lazy as*es.

But surely a lot move from the rest of Maharashtra to Mumbai also or they don't count ?
if u change ur room in ur house does it also come under imigration?
or if u move into a new house next building that comes under immigration asz well?
hope that answers ur question.

these unskilled labours are indeed a burden to cities like Mumbai and Delhi. if only they could develop their own cities, we would not see such a level of disorganization in the metros we have today

For the most part, the city of Bombay has nothing in common with the rest of the state. Making the Bombay-Thane-New Bombay region a city-state, like Delhi NCR in the north, would be ideal, and any future migration laws (if and when) could then apply to non-residents of the city and its extended suburbs.

Anyway, it's the new metro line we should be focussing on in this thread, and I can't wait to ride it someday.

That's pretty cheap, same in China. In Beijing it's like 30 US cents for any distance, but in Shenzhen it's like maximum 1 dollar.

These cities are disorganized because the whole lot of resident and governing bodies are disorganized.

First of all, if you ever visited China you know how occupied those "ghost cities" are, they may lack the occupancy of old cities, but they are increasing by the year.

Second, there are definitely real ghost cities, but those are in bad places, like inner Mongolia and the like. The percentage is relatively small.

The reason western propaganda keep using the same cities is because it is in fact the same cities and others have been filling up.

Third, Chinese cities is still looking to expand the population of current old cities like Dalian, my home town from 6 to 8 million people. So more will actually move to the cities in the coming decades, and once the older cities are more or less full, the new cities will start to get full.

As to demand, it's a cycle, Chinese people get higher paying jobs by building new cities, they in turn have the financial power to move into these cities. New cities are built, and businesses move in, then comes the population. For example, Dalian has a new IT area that's bring jobs and new people, that's how it works.

People can't wait for buildings, what do you want them to do in the mean time? Live on the street?

it's a loaded topic, just look at how many lives in the cities compare to 20 years ago, how many will live in the cities within the next 20 years.

Compare to India and then it's apparent what our respective policies are doing.

Don't let emotions do the talking let's look at facts.
i agree with u...india should start building new cities from scratch...that would bring down costs...and completion of projects in time... and also generates huge no.of jobs!
