At IDEX 2023, PAL Aerospace unveiled the P-6 multi-role maritime patrol aircraft, based on the Canadian Bombardier Global 6500 business jet. With growing interest in balancing maritime domain surveillance and anti-submarine warfare against the proliferation of underwater combat platforms, countries in the Middle East are eyeing to new airfields as the aging Boeing P-8A Poseidon nears the end of its production cycle.
The new project in which PAL AEROSPACE UAE + Thales + Elettronica mainly cooperates with several local and international companies.
1- The project is based on the Global 6500 and offers an opportunity to completely convert and equip the aircraft in the UAE at PAL Aerospace UAE facilities.
2- The aircraft will carry four to six weapon points to carry MU-90 torpedoes, in addition to a wide range of precision guidance weapons such as Sea Venom + EDGE Thunder P31 + Smart Glider and many more.
3- The additional and new thing is the presence of what is known as underbelly flexible, which is the extension below the fuselage of the aircraft, which can change what is carried inside it using the plug and play method..This extension will be able to carry four additional torpedoes. A revolutionary marine AESA radar from Thales may be the successor to the Thales Searchmaster radar, which is basically a wonderful radar of the type AESA GaAn. The new radar will have very modern and impressive applications in terms of range, detection, weight and power needed. to turn it on
4- Thales and PAL Aerospace UAE will work on the new management and control system based on Next-Generation AMASCOS
5- It will also carry a long-range electro-optical system, which is likely to be an MS-110 system capable of capturing high-resolution images of vast areas of two hundred kilometers, in addition to espionage systems and signal and digital tracking.
6- The aircraft will be heavily protected by distributing radar and laser detection and missile warning systems, and will be linked to two Directional Infrared Countermeasures systems to destroy missiles.
