Lots of Pakistani migrant businesses have done well, along with others with regional identities. Indian is a loose term, in the Americas it has a totally different connotation often, for eg.

Hey, Iran must have sizable vehicle industry.

After all a lot of the Indian industry, vehicles and otherwise, is Zoroastrian, Pak Punjabi origin controlled. Tata, Mahindra, Munjal, Firodia, Hinduja, Yazd ... Yezdi motorcycle there used to be.

Tata's Nano to roll out as taxis in Kashmir

If the Jammu and Kashmir government has its way, Tata's cheapest small car Nano will be rolled out as taxi in Srinagar, first time ever in the country since it was launched in 2009.


The Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department is mulling over the idea after private players came up with a proposal to use Nano as commercial vehicle given roadways in Srinagar and Jammu cities.

"The state transport department has received proposals from private players intending to use Nano as a commercial vehicle to ferry passengers," said state transport commissioner Mehraj Kakroo.

The private players have offered to charge on the tariff line of autorickshaws.

"Nano car is four seater, completely covered unlike auto rickshaws. In winters with sub-zero temperature outside, people prefer not to hire autorickshaws," said Asif Ahmad, one of the private players interested in investing in Nano as taxi.

The rich, posh Bombay Shias and 'lite, ex-courtiers and assorted royalty of political Delhi deputed and despatched reasonable family members to the new creation of Pak. Upper middle class city slick professional s from Calcutta, Lucknow and smaller British outposts like Shimla, Kanpur, Meerut tagged along.

Today, farmers, land grabbers and other tag ons are selling out like in Gurgaon, Noida, Manesar, Palwal and heading to Gujarat where new canals are opening up vast land for agriculture.

Not cheap though, cheaper here, US, Oz, Ukraine etc. Comparable to EU Punjab and other Indian land prices.
