M-270 USA : Are we getting it or not ?

. .
better target would be terrorists in North Warziristan
why you all so hostile towards India???
if you two war it's only going to hurt both or Pakistan worse.

If USSR would have captured any state of USA what would you have done?? be friendly with them??

Pakistan is seeking 150 pieces of surplus stock M-270s from the US. With ACTMS rockets in service, it will bridge our stand off strike gap.

What this system add which PA currently don't have and it is old system too, is it updated as per today's tech??

We can get advance tech through China or may be Russia.

The M270 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) entered service with the US Army in 1983. Production of this vehicle ceased in 2003. The M270 is currently in service with the US Army and a number of other countries. It is also a standard NATO multiple launch rocket system.

A unique feature of the M270 is that it has got no launching rails. Rockets are fired straight away from containers. Each disposable container holds 6 rockets. Rockets can be stored in containers without any maintenance for up to ten years. Vehicle carries two such containers with a total of 12 rockets.
The standard 227-mm HE-FRAG rocket is 3.96 m long and weights 307 kg. The M270 also fires two types of cluster rockets, fitted with anti-tank submunitions and the AT-2 anti-tank mines. Warheads are interchangeable. It also fires newly developed guided munitions at a range of 60 - 100 km.
The M270 MLRS can also launch MGM-140A ATACMS (Army TACtical Missile System) tactical missiles. The ATACMS has a range exceeding 150 km. Two of these missiles can be carried. Furthermore vehicle can carry a mix of one missile and a pack of six rockets.
The M270 is based on the modified M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle chassis. Vehicle is powered by the Cummins VTA-903T diesel engine, developing 500 horsepower. It has an armored hull, protecting the crew against small arms fire. It is also fitted with an NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems.
Reloading of the vehicle is made by its crew during 5-10 minutes. It is assisted by an integrated crane. Reloads are carried in the M985 HEMTT high mobility utility truck.

Variants
M142 HIMARS is a lighter version of the M270. This artillery system is intended for airborne forces and marine. The launcher is based on a 6x6 army truck. The HIMARS fires the same rockets as the M270 MLRS, however it carries only one container with a total of 6 rockets. It entered service with the US Army and Marine Corps in 2005.

Why should the "Islamic" Republic of Pakistan receive American made weapons?? After all, don't members here complain how "unreliable" Americans are and how we shouldn't depend on the West, but yet Pakistanis are so eager to take in more and more American weapons.

Have some shame!! Do Pakistanis love getting @$$ raped by Americans over and over again??

I just read it on wikki and I started the thread other wise I am against getting weapons from USA they can't be trusted they in the past have stopped weapon supplies to us in most crucial times when we needed them most in 71 and also after Afghan Jihad they never gave the number of F-16 which we asked and paid for

That's why we should go for or produce something similar to the Chinese SY-400 rather than go for free American junk because it might be "free" but it isn't going to work for us when we need it thus it is nothing but "junk" for us.

We don't need more junk.

Exactly yes we should go for SY-400 we can get it with TOT and produce as many as we want

  • Soviet Union wanted a dry transit to Karachi which the US didn't want, since they were engaged in Vietnam and they didn't want the USSR to access warm water ports. Pakistan's democratically elected PM Bhutto agreed to USSR which was in our interest. The USSR built a huge steel mill in Karachi out of their own pocket to sweeten the deal.

  • US threatened Bhutto if he didn't refuse the transit, he refused.
  • US then supported a rogue General, Zia ul Haq to mount a military coup which removed Bhutto establishment which was elected by 70% votes and replaced it with an American funded military junta which destroyed our society within 10 years. (Similar to what the US did in Iran with President Mussadaq)

  • Zia did what he was brought to do, he refused the USSR a transit to Karachi, they got pissed and vowed to take it by force.

  • They wanted to use Afghanistan which was their ally to attack Pakistan, which didn't work so they staged an assassination of the Afghan leadership to create a pretext of invasion and later entered Afghanistan with an objective in mind to cease Pakistan's coastal areas in coordination with India which was its ally. Pakistan was in a position where it couldn't have held a two front war against India and a Superpower.

  • That war killed 1 Million Muslims, displaced 7 million and it was all done to please a Christian supower we have nothing to do with.

  • Pakistan was the US's mercenary in Afghanistan and we were forced into that war by the US. Our best interest was to cooperate with the USSR to build our economy so we can give our people the basic necessities of livelihood.

  • The 'extremism' started in 1979 and it was a direct consequence of the US imperialist thought.

Strings come with all deals, however unlike American Christians, the Chinese Buddhists don't make Muslims kill Muslims.
I like your posts in general, but be aware of one thing, that the game is much bigger, either you fall in the American Christian hand or the Russian Christian hand both are hands of a third party which head is a Judeo-Christian amalgam of churches and their politician followers. And this policy is played throughout the world with no exception.
This body will even slap its two hads against its other to further the same policy. You can try to have a look at the World Wars in Europe in this context of things too, only Germany was replaced by the Soviet Union since it has deviated from the church policies and was more open to the outside world like Buddhism and shamanism in their secret societies, so the head of this body orchestrated the Jewish agony for two reasons, 1st to end the pogroms against them and to establish one part of the head in the oil rich and perceived enemy Islam, Than came the cold war where both hands the US and the new (but not so new; read the Bolshevist revolution) Soviet Union armed themselves to the teeth with Nuclear and conventional weapons and divided the world in two. But both sides had to fall into the Judeo-Christian hands in one way or another. Any coutry who has protested this hegemony had either its leaders assassinated its governments overthrown or were sabotaged in their economy or even totally sanctioned. This trend continues today with sanctions, sabotage and wars, where the main beneficiary is this same entity; economically by selling arms and keeping it industries running, and politically by dividing and dictating the rules for policies and politicians who suit their aims.
Remember also that the USSR wanted to help Pakistan economically and get a passage trough its waters or take it by force by invading Afghanistan with the aim of taking that maritime passage by force.
So, the message was clear, they wanted that passage that badly that they were willing to conspire (the killing of the government officials in Afghanistan to start an invasion) to get it by force.
The US policy is the same, either you are with us or against us, if you are with us let us have a say in your internal affairs and your foreign policies , if you are against us , well we'll sanction you, and make your life hellish. Both Ali Bhutto and Zia, had to be friends on these terms or get the result we all know if they deviate a bit from it and look after their own sovereignty .
only god knows what the soviets had in store fore Pakistan in a secret agenda of the head. The US had no friendship in its mind as was show many times, only its interests count primarily. and Pakistan has proved to be a hard nut to crack for them.
In a different analogy, It is a choice between the two horns of a devil who wants to run the world at his guise, it did work for over a few centuries of colonialism and imperialism and got more sophisticated with the passage of time. It is still existent now a days and more dangerous than ever, but faced with much more (serious) resistance than ever before.
The Egyptians who thought the Russians were their best friends and bought huge quantities of weapons from them after the 1967 debacle or treacherous attack against them by the head's proxy in the middle east Usrael, found out during the 1973 war that the Soviets were giving/ or has given (Reason for expelling all of them from Egypt prior to the opening of the hostilities) their Air force's secret communication codes to the Usraelis who could than eavesdrop on every Egyptian pilot, airplane and their Head Quarters., so they have changed their codes and won many battles after that, actually the war itself.. But the intention (Mens Rea) and the complicity was there; that of helping the Judeo part win the war by destroying (again) the most powerfull weapon of the Egyptians, namely their air force. Perhaps an indication of their complicity in the 1967 war where the Egyptian air force was the most powerfull in the middle east with 400 ready combat aircrafts that were all destroyed on the ground.
I'll leave you with these thoughts and facts to meditate on, and hope (and have not much doubt) that ISI is aware of them. But I want to make it public for (at least) all the Muslims to see, understand and counter wisely and with prudence.

I wish the best for Pakistan, and I am convinced that any weapon system it needs will be available or at least its equivalent in quality and quantity. Things looks promising for the re-lance of the economy, all of the ingredients are there for a better future; the new Mega-projects getting approved by China, the Gwadar port, the settlements of the internal affairs with rebellion and a close end to internal conflicts. A better economy will help much in that regard too, but IMO just the start of the projects will diminish it ten folds and will motivate the whole population to work harder and get the best they deserve.
