OK, it is not uncommon to use a wrong 'tense' during heated debate. I should have used 'were', I used 'are'. Does this change the fact that their land was snatched from them? They were restricted to reservations and made to live like a third rate citizen in their own lands?

Personal insults like calling someone a slave in a racial context is never required in a debate. But catching someone in an intellectual gaff -- pants down -- is required and is never considered a personal insult.

No I loved Classical Physics but was torn when I found out later on that quite a few of it doesn't even work anymore !
