This is known fact that Japan was looking to surrender well before the bombs were dropped. So many people killed needlessly.

It took two atomic bombs to get Japan to surrender. Not one. Nor before all that firebombings and being surrounded. They were going to fight to the end until sanity took over and persuaded the Emperor to intervene and end the war. Some Japanese were willing to keep on fighting. Its a well known fact that some Japanese soldiers kept on fighting decades after the war.
