LHC hearing to remove Nawaz from ECL

That is a very slippery slope. If you impeach judges in this case, what is to prevent any government from impeaching judges just because they don’t like the decisions made and want to get rid of them?

It is the job of the judges to determine if the law is followed, not the governments. The only solution to this is long term reform in the justice & legal system and the appointment of more qualified judges when these ones retire.

Yeah but you can't protect this society if these judges are sell outs..... Time and time again, LHC has proved to be on the side of criminals.

It is also important to withhold comments for a sub judice matter until the decision is announced. Inflaming public sentiments by politicization of due process is a dangerous mistake.

seems like , LHC judges ki bhi koi video haan ..Nawaz ka pass.

The way to protect society is through reforms in the legal & judicial system, not through arbitrary action against judges whose decisions the government doesn’t like.

What if the PMLN or PPP come back to power and they don’t like the judges who are convicting people for corruption and ‘impeach’ them? If the PTI does this now, it opens the door for future governments to get rid of judges that disagree with the government and that is definitely not ‘protecting society’.

In the present setup, that's not possible unless all MNAs and Senators have loaded guns to their heads to pass the new laws. So far this system is barely running on Presidential Ordinances.

A new system is required. Let the courts send Nawaz out then IK should start an aggressive campaign for a new Presidential System.
Or we can hope & push IK to deliver on economy & governance so he gets a bigger majority in the next elections and can pass laws to reform the system. BJP managed to get a massive majority in its second term (though so far it has squandered the opportunity).

There is no other option. Pakistan is too diverse for an autocratic solution to work, and the rise of social media and awareness of the populace (and our weak standing globally) has made it almost impossible for a dictator to take over and push through change without significantly negative consequences domestically & internationally.

Dictatorship is not the solution.

Presidential System may just be. Current Constitution is not set in stone, it can and should be torn and new written.

IK needs to start talking about the new system and then call midterm elections with a promise of Referendum on new system if given 2/3.

You would still need a majority in the legislature to pass laws in a Presidential system, so we’ll be back to the same problem.

What if government doesn't appeal against this decision or prepares an extremely weak case?
What if he died or was killed ( Nawaz ) and all the blame gets put on IK and Establishment?

Government has done the right thing by putting the condition.
A consition which isn't per law as i know.
Remember its Imran Khan, its few friends and sensible common person versus rest of the mafia ... we jave to be patient
Let's see

That is what the courts are for. The PMLN disagrees with the govt decision to put conditions on removal from ECL. It is their right to approach the court.

What exactly is the PTI govt supposed to do if the PMLN approaches the court against the ECL decision?

The constitutional process is working, even if we don’t like the decision, and we should be thankful for that. Yes, we can debate how to improve the process and close loopholes, but why criticize the govt?
As i said, everyone is playing it's part.If no such provision of putting conditions for taking out names from ECL exists in law, than surely LHC would strike it down and,Govt would be again free of any burden.

Is ghareeb qom par reham karoo.

At least the starting set of laws will remove the loopholes that exist at present.

Also the electables and feudal lords will be out of legislation process. With no access to ministries and public funds, members of houses won't be there for looting. Local bodies will appeal more to the them. And then there is presidential veto.

Also no more provincial assemblies.

There will be new set of problems but it won't be this set we are plagued with at present and for past many decades.

Pretty straightforward just look at their assests

Its a slippery slope not doing anything too..if people stops trusting the judicial system than its game over..(i think its already happened)

Courts should force the government to remove Nawaz from ECL.

This will be ideal to build a strong case for system change getting rid of this breed of corrupt judiciary.

If it's his time, he must go.. London doctors will not be able to extend his life.

Westminster not for us. When literacy rate is extremely low.

Thing is IK supporter will support IK no matter what because they are not matric fail khota khoor. If nawaz dies so what? every one has to die one day he is no different neither he is something that people will cry for him except some beneficiaries of corrupt system.

That's what the government has done with Justice Issa. Is NAB authorized to investigate the assets of judges? That will obviously open another can of worms because the opposition is going to allege that NAB is being used to go after judges the government doesn't agree with. Of course the Chairman NAB is appointed via consultation between the government and opposition, and the current CM NAB was appointed by PMLN & PPP, and was not the PTI's first choice, so not sure why PTI is being blamed for NAB's actions.
