This is what they did after they banned LET, they allowed Hafiz Saeed to operate from the same place in Muridke under only a different name-plate, now what kind of low-wit will call that a BAN???

It's a dam, not a nuclear shelter for God's sake.

Find out the thickness of the reinforced concrete wall of the Brakra Dam. Then work out the quantity of explosives needed to destroy it and the types of charges needed and the way the charges are to be placed along the wall. If you know how to work out these calculations you will see that the quantity of explosives needed is really astronomical. Not that it can't be done, but not easy either. Damn it, blowing up a RCC bridge itself is very difficult for a group of infiltrators as a lot of explosives have to be carried and this is a major dam, much much thicker. Also far better guarded. See the movie "The Dam Busters". It shows how the RAF blew up German dams in 1943. I read the book and saw the movie as a kid.

The point here is not whether or not a bunch of terrorists will be able to breach the Bhakra dam. Most likely, they will not be able to do it. But the fact that terrorists got in and tried to blow up the Bhakra will cause intense panic and might trigger hostilities. That is the whole point and that would be precisely the aim of the terrorists in the first place.

yup...there is always a first....such as terrorists flying two large jumbo jets into the narrow gorge containing the dam wall and smashing into the 50 meter thick concrete wall.ruptering it.
its as much possible as terrorists building a base on the far sideof the moon.

1. Bhakra dam was made after taking care of all possible calamity scenarios in mind. If bhakra is breached following armageddon then the damage will be catastrophic but if a major leakage with primary structure intact happens then a portion of massive flow of water can be shifted by its very very long (in kms) controllable water arteries further to areas of less population/ less fertile land. Ultimately it will hit Pakistan Punjab as well and i am not sure if they have contingencies in place for that.

2 May be there are/is dedicated sam batteries with 360 d, 24 hr radar coverage.

3. There is only one road from one point to another with heavy vehicle restriction with manual check posts.

4. Water reservoir surveillance is 24hrs with dedicated rescue, water analysis and reconnaissance boats.

4. No traffic allowed on that 13-25 km road (Dam some where between this length) after 3 or 4 or 5 pm to 8 or 9 or 10 am, yes they are allowed to enforce it with desired force.

5. Bhakra Dam is not twin tower, its not floating in air but forged into massive granite mountains from both side and the mountains on both sides are so massive that it looks like Hulk holding a match stick box in his hands.
Pentagon (with windows/apertures) suffered less damage than twin towers, why?

6. Dams are not nuclear shelters? I do not know whats that mean but Dams are the strongest structures man ever made.

PS: I am not debating how, what, whom of LeT JuD or how dangerous they are but i am more pissed off from such current intelligence inputs made available (if true) to media. If they want to prove how worthy they are the defenders of national security then they shouldn't be clueless about the real terrorist attacks like the recent one in Mumbai.

True. We'd have had that sort of intelligence agencies if ANY of the other fronts fighting for our independence had won rather than these slaves-of-colonials Congress' Gandhi brigade.
