25 million Taiwanese don't want anything to do with the PRC! And with the kind of attitude shown above, who can blame them?

Just think of what it would be like if Taiwan were part of the PRC, a state whose people that would happily destroy them!

That was the Taiwan of yesteryear. Taiwan of the present sees itself incredibly isolated with only limited partners. In reality, the Taiwanese are readily cooperating with the Mainland in terms of economic activity. Presently, the Mainland has the advantage be it diplomatically, militarily, and economically. And I doubt the Mainland would jeopardize what it has built these past 30 some years just to war with Taiwan, an island whose economy does not even equal that of Guangdong Province.

Personally, I believe Taiwan will be reunited with the Mainland. But it will take some time, and the CPC would succeed with implementing the same benevolent enlightenment it has shown towards Hong Kong, Macau ...with that of Taiwan. A one country two system would be ideal. Until Taiwan integrates, and I do believe that Taiwan can do much in influencing Beijing's policies as well. Just as Beijing has benefited from Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR's reunification with the Motherland.

But that's my own personal view.

They are a definite minority that want reunification with the PRC! If the PRC were a democratic state and the CCP a democratic political party, things might be different. But who in their right mind would surrender their state or country to a totalitarian regime in a totalitarian state, which is what the CCP regime and the PRC are.

Even I was the most ardent supporter of peaceful reunification, but like @ChineseTiger1986 I have changed my mind. KMT Hanjian can't be reasoned with.



The fact that they are fellow Han Chinese makes their crime even more unforgivable.

When I joined PDF back in 2010, I was pro-peaceful reunification as well. And people can still read my old comments.

But after I have learned all those facts, I have changed my mind about Taiwan.

but on a serious note if Taiwanese continue to be stubborn and refuse to unify then what choice is there left ? Suggesting to wait for a few hundred years would be out of the question. It all comes down to our patience and the stubbornness of Taiwanese. Time will tell.

BTW, CPC has declared the war against Japan since 1931, while KMT in 1941, which is a full decade later.

Well, that is true. Mao Zedong starved to death 45 million Chinese between 1957 and 1962, so I guess 25 million Taiwanese are nothing, eh?

Nope, during Mao's era, China's population was still thriving, while it had little growth during KMT's era.
