BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was served papaya juice and assorted fruits after she was taken to old central jail on Nazimuddin Road in Bakshi Bazar on Thursday.

As per UNB, the BNP chief was taken to the jail by a white SUV amid tight security measures.

According to a jail source, Khaleda's domestic help Fatema Begum is accompanying her inside the jail.

He said Ahsan Habib, a physician of the central jail, conducted a physical checkup of Khaleda and found her blood pressure and pulses normal.

Later, she was given papaya juice and some low-sugar fruits like apple, oranges and grapes.

The BNP chief has now been kept in a large room which was earlier used as the office of the jail super.

"The room has been made neat and clean and upgraded with all facilities like AC, cable TV connection, kitchen, healthy washroom and cozy bed, for a VIP prisoner," said a jail official wishing anonymity.

He said the BNP chief will be kept there for a few days, and she will either be moved to the old jail's female ward near the day-care centre, or to a rented house that will be declared a sub-jail by the Home Ministry.
They should feed her potatoes as alternative to rice.
In her regime she proposed that alternative for bangladeshi. Now she should consume alu vorta 3 times instead of bhat !

Buddy, your thoughts are unusually positive for democracy in BD. It's nice to have a neighbour who wishes us the best.

Truly I think BD needs to resolve these issues of its very identity as a country.....rather than playing shove one half into closet out of view and winner takes all etc...because then the hammer falls over time, reversal/revolution occurs and the situation just gets worse and worse...more and more brittle and polarised, in a country already with one language and massive majority ethnic group etc....like wtf.

BD Police are pre-emptively arresting known active BNP supporters in large numbers (got coverage in Indian media even)....what is this?....horrid. I don't know whats worse, such a thing happening in first place or population doing little in response....I mean if you are not total BAL sycophant (and maybe even if you are for just convenience sake) you can easily be next if you show you can tolerate it....as long as its not yet you at the time.

This attitude must be purged from BD, best to do it now rather than later (when urban population and much more wealth and thus blood is on the line). But what are the options for BNP and will enough ppl listen and act? Does BNP need to fall and rise up as a new phoenix?...maybe thats best idea rather than countering dynasty with another dynasty....because that lends to impression of status quo no matter what in the neutral minds.

LOL. We know the game you are trying to play.

AL are not perfect but the destruction of the incompetent and corrupt BNP is not a bad thing at all.
One-party rule for some more time is just what BD needs at this critical time of economic and military development.
Just like Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore developed fast under one-party rule, the same is happening to BD as well.

AL will romp home to another win this year much to your disappointment.

.

Typical AL rant! The Nazis in Germany had declared that they would rule forever. They boasted that they were too smart to be ousted. They had the courts in their pockets too.

It is only possible,

if peoples' sentiment for BNP is greater than the suppressing power of AL.

So what I see is sentiment for BNP is 1, and suppressing power of AL is 5.

And 5 is grater than 1.

If you really believe that you are a well wisher of BD , (you told it to me in another thread remember? I am Jacksparow47 ,changed my Nick few days ago), I believe, your thoughts regarding bangladeshi politics are error. You should understand , although democracy is perhaps good, still sometimes it's unhealthy for some countries .

Only because of this democratic musical chair , one Party will be elected, will try to develop the country , and another party will cancel it .
Bangladesh faced such hazardous situation at past.
Most of bangladeshi peoples are led by passion , not by mind .
So in order to develop them , we must need one party rule at least for 50 years . It's a long procedure to develop an emotional nation , and it's must be done step by step and not only in 5 years .
(The regime is actually military backed ; here military is trying to balance from behind. Believe it or not our armed forces guys are totally opposite to our civilians. They use mind and brain and never led by passion that is actually destructive, and if bangladesh survived after 1971 , most of credit go to them .).
Look at the regime of Hussein Muhammad Ershad, he ruled 9 years , that time was the most prosperous for bangladesh.
So the one party rule can be another party not only awami league , but in bangladesh only the cult of two parties are not only dominating now , but also much stronger than even bangladesh itself , as most peoples are more awami league and BNP and less bangladeshi in reality!
So Ershad or others as a third power can't achieve the goal now I believe before at least one or two more terms.
So either BNP or awami league must be the choice at that moment.

Now let's make some comparison between both of our leaders. If you really study the past years ( since 1991) political history of bangladesh , and think impartiality, you will understand many more things like that . I will give some hints . If you study you will realize that why sheikh hasina and her awami league is the only option for bangladesh at that moment.

Despite her harping about 1971 , sheikh Hasina is far better ruler and personality than khaleda Zia .
Sheikh hasina is friendly towards common folks, khaleda Zia is self centered.
Sheikh hasina is cool , khaleda Zia is impatient.

Sheikh hasina always pay visit to common folks in jolly mood (social and formal visit ,not talking about political seminars, because in political seminars everyone is jolly) ,

She is gentle, polite , and respectful to common folks , and truly she believes that she is one of common folks,
In short she ( hasina) is great ruler , great leader ,very social and strong personality . She was born and raised in a pure political family .

Khaleda Zia on the other hand lack everything .And is very self and family centered , introvert ,and she really lack any leading capability too.

She act as arrogant and proud queen that is totally absurd in democratic and social atmosphere. In short khaleda Zia always behave as she is superior to others because she is prime Minister ,so she damn care others .

She lived a luxerious life in cantonment before the death of her husband , as a house wife of an army general , (and also after her husband's death she was given a house in cantonment too , she used to live there, untill awami league govt threw her away from the house ) who only can be a good mother , perhaps a good wife , and a very good family person, but never a social person .

She never had any relationship with social life with common folks, and had no involvement in politics too . It's very natural for a wife of an army officer , I don't blame her , this is the reality .

However khaleda Zia is also very popular in Bangladesh only because of the, cult like political culture in Bangladesh.

Now about 1971 problems ( here some stubborn pakistanis should pay attention too).
This 1971 issue was basically a BNP product .
When they came to power in 1991 , it's BNP who used it as tool .
Their slogan was ' proclaimer of Independence is Shahid Zia , leader is khaleda Zia ' blah blah ..... .

And also in our text book of Junior school in the subject social science , it was written in the chapter of history of Independence of bangladesh ,
'Ziaur Rahman declared indipendance and proclaimed himself as the president of bangladesh ,when mujib was absent, and then he also took command of sector one in order that make country free from pakistani raiders'.

Yes BNP extensively called pakistan army as hanadar/raider before they made alliance with jamaat e islami . in reality this 1971 whining became the political norm in bangladesh

Look here they claim that a president is fighting on field ,too much desperate to find ground based on 71 tight ? If someone can find those books written in BNP regime they can read it too.

So this so called Independence has been the political tool that was actually adopted by BNP .
But due to their changing nature , they embrace the tablet of Islam when they made alliance with jamaat islam in 2001 . Because they had no other option left but to stop barking about 3 million theory because jamati Islam is labeled as war criminal !
So Independence whining is obsolete now for them ( BNP) and they became fake lover of Islam .

And awami league embraced the so called Independence theory ( they had no other option left since opposition declared mujib as kafir or psedo hindutva) ) and trying to kick out ziaur Rahman even as so called freedom fighter.
All are political games.

So well wishers of bangladesh should realize that BD peoples are not matured enough to take their own decisions yet , and they led by passion and fake heros , easily devour tablet of chetona ( 71 cult ) , or tablet of Islam.

In reality no political party in bangladesh is Islamic ( except few smaller parties like jamati Islam , Islamic oikkojot etc etc ) , yet this tricks work well because jamati Islam has 5-6% vote and it's equally divided in every electoral area .

So it's easy for BNP or anyone to make alliance with them and get almost every seat and stay in power forever .
And since jamati Islam is smaller yet islamic party ,and Islamic tablet works extremely well in Bangladesh , and it work way better than 71 cult .
so there is no way you can defeat them if someone is ally of jaamati Islami or other islamic party . (This is the reason awami league is seeking allaiec with the deobandis ( hefajat Islam ) , because they can't make allaince with jamati isoam at that moment because if they do so, they will lost credibility as they are currently using chetona card of 71 )
.
That's the reason awami league invented the chetona cult ( more vicious than previous BNP version ) propogated be leftist in order to survive .
And for this reason bangladesh really need one party rule at least for 50 years in order to be freed from indipendance chetona drug and also islamic drug .
In reality no political party is neither serving so called 71 spirit not serving Islam , but just they are using islam .
If you look back and study carefully the history from 1991 to onward , you will understand my this I believe.
I am explaining it to you because once you said that, you are well wisher of bangladesh, but because of the emotional and dramatic behavior of some PDF Bengalis , you react reversely .
So I suggest you to study bangladesh carefully. After reading my post .
I believe you will find the reality ( if you are really well wisher of bangladesh , as you claimed) that democracy is obsolete here , and only one party rule can save bangladesh from those disastrous situation. So now at any cost BNP must be supresed , otherwise BD will face another civil war situation like 2014_2015 and that could just the cause breaking of bangladesh piece by piece .

So only one option left for BNP and that is either they will take part in election under awami league regime and accept there destined defeat ( as the Punishment of 2014-15 massacre , and also as the payment of robbing military budget during BNP ragime ) , or again boycott election and will be vanished from bangladesh politics.

Since khaleda Zia and her son tareq Rahman will not do that , so BNP should choose new leader I believe .
Now we ( bangladeshi ) have to observe what decision they take in future.
Thank you .
@Nilgiri

PS.
@The Ronin , now read this one ( first read another post where I tagged you ). Make sense ? How I can be fighting with fake propaganda?
Don't be upset , I was emotional like you before 10 years .

However I will give you a clue , study various sources. The book "dead reckoning" and "tajuddin the leader and father" can be 2 great book for beginners (Truth seeker).
You don't need to believe in any jamati source , read this two books first .
First one was written by sharmila Bose who is actually grand daughter of Subhash bose ( netaji Subhash bose ) , and the another one is written by sharmin Ahmed , the daughter of tajuddin Ahmed .

I suppose we can temporary close the chapter of relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh boosting any little diplomatic ties they had with Hassina being fully control over BD.

Anyone who thinks Maldive's current president gonna win coming elections in 2019 will be stupid :D

Hence I believe the two parties should become merit based membership fully (kick out the dynasties and all the bad blood, start from square one as much as you can), discuss and debate the issues and let people decide genuinely what they prefer....maybe preferably create more parties from the main 2 to have all the relevant combinations of society/identity/economics....but all this needs genuine desire for such from the people rather than just go with the flow attitude....and like you say it boils down to maturity of electorate etc....so maybe it will take much longer time. But I do see there is a crucial window right now as well that can cost BD a lot in delaying when this happens.

Right now its just heading to who can out-crush the other by making everything as brittle and polarised as possible....when really issues need not be so emotive but rather substantive on actual results. That is the driver that needs to come from bottom of the pyramid....otherwise the elite just continue to play their games and constantly seek how to increase the buffer of which they can do that.

Having family dynasties inside attempted democratic framework always ends badly long term basically. BD people need to understand that.

AL has crushed BNP and will win easily this time.
BNP with Khaleda is completely dead.
BD will move forward with AL till at least middle of next decade.
Worry about your country rather than someone else's dude.

Khaleda given division in jail: Prisons chief

Star Online Report

Erasing doubts as to how BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is being treated at jail, Bangladesh’s prisons’ chief says that the former prime minister has been given division facilities.
“We have ensured division facilities for Khaleda Zia,” Inspector General (IG) of Prisons Syed Iftekhar Uddin told The Daily Star this evening.

Highly placed jail sources also told The Daily Star, Khaleda has been allowed a personal aide in the jail.

Earlier in the day, Iftekhar, while talking to reporters at his office room, said that there is no provision of division to a former prime minister according to the jail code.

"Considering privacy of Khaleda Zia, we transferred her to the first floor of the daycare center in the jail last night," the IG Prisons had said.

The former prime minister of Bangladesh was convicted of Tk 2.10 crore graft and sent to jail in what is being understood as a significant verdict on the year of parliamentary election.

.
It was not Khaleda Zia but Awami army back govt of 2007-2008 proposed .
Khaleda Zia suggested it too, when she came to power for the first time . That time internet wasn't available everywhere, not even cable TV line . Perhaps you will find it in old news papers cutting .
However my memory could betray me too . You can try to find .
And also khaleda Zia wanted to stop 1 eid bonus too.

Alu is not something that is eaten not only by the mouse population. It remains the staple food for the Scandinavia and western Europe people. But, this item is below the esteem of the population of very rich country, BD.

There were (are) times when rice production is low and potato production is high in BD. Is it alright that our people go hungry and starve, but do not eat potato? Potato should not be used as a tool of politics. In today's BD rice is very expensive and potatoes rot because of overproduction. Should not we eat potato as a substitute?

Nah man, not using it politically. But when peoples may choose whatever they can eat.
But it's look like a dirty joke when you can't control rice market while peoples are hungry, then peoples aren't very happy.
And what else I can say? Do.you remember 1996 period of Sheikh hasina?
This time was much prosperous to the time of Khaleda zia's first time (1991).
Some say that day by day everything improve. Nice logic no doubt, then why from 2001-2006 was the worst time in Bangladesh history ( except famine time)? I am not going to explain in detail vast you already know that. Only some paid bnp who live on money of bnp even try to defend the worst year on those 5 years, and as a non political person it enrage me.
So I made such comment just as a simple mockery.
In those time even rice production was lower than our capacity and bnp govt was not taking proper steps to increase production.
Yet they came to power in 2001.
Pathetic Bengalis just elected them.

P.s: hypothesis, believe me, if I will ever have such power ( hypothesis) , I will make such peoples suffer because of endless loadsheding in cruel summer every single day and night, who still want to vote Khaleda for the sake of stinky democracy.
However this loadsheding incident ( 16-18 hours in a day in regular basic) was most severe to me as I drink cold water even in winter, don't know why I am like that, every body surprised because of it.
So I just became traumatic about 2005-06 specially, as because both such loadsheding I just suffered many physical problems
Even I was hospitalized several times.

My IPS was not charging without electricity, and I can't afford operate generator because of high operating and maintenance cost. Also generator lines weren't not available in residential area.
I explained it in another tread. And I find here guilty for such sufferings so even I can't tolerate her existence as major opposition ( in this case I am totally irrational) so no argument).
In short I just hate the witch more than the most.
