What's new

Khaleda Zia jailed for 5 years and Tarique Rahman for 10 years

Maybe khaleda Zia will be in jail after losing the next election? What say you ? Just not sure about it.
Is it impossible to make BNP s 3rd power and raise another party as 2nd seat winner?
Like awami league will win 160 seat and a new from win 70+ seat and BNP 50-60 ?
It's hypothesis yet isn't it possible since election will be fixed actually?
Just asking your opinion .

BNP will remain largely as the 2nd power and in the coming election, they will have to participate. All these small dramas here and there in 2018 will take place to show our emotional people that BNP is "fighting the for the rights of Bangladesh" but ultimately, it will be AL that will take the election and hand over BNP some seats by mutual agreement behind closed doors. Part of that agreement might also be negotiating the return of Tareq Rahman to Bangladesh to take the helm of BNP. What will happen will remain to be seen but this is my take on the situation.

Regardless of the context, BNP is in dire straits and is in its last legs. In order to survive they will have come to an understanding with AL. Surely there would be blank words in media and talk shows, but that's pretty much an eye wash. The Bangladeshi people will never forget the atrocities of BNP where they petrol-bombed and burnt people and their belongings. That has been a mistake BNP will regret for years.

Oaky mr truth ! Now stop ranting and focus on the topic !
And don't write everything in bold text . It's painful to read them .
Well don't believe it too , it could be a propoganda against you !
However I want to see khaleda and tareq Zia is hanged till death because of this massacre in 2014-2015 petrol bomb killing .
Will you not believe it too? Killers deserve death penalty , specially who burn peoples with petrol bomb in the name of revival of democracy!
@T-Rex

We went through this 'don't write in bold' business and your buddies couldn't stop me with their intolerance. As I said I'm not going to believe anything a self proclaimed liar says!

A day will come when the AL regime will regret running Nazi courts! While in power any scumbag can do it. Look at the mafia boss in Egypt.

. .
You can bet on the following statements:
  1. AL will rule forever.
  2. AL is too intelligent for BNP to beat.
  3. There will be no second chance for BNP.
  4. If BNP tries anything, it will be just waste of time.

Well said . But I feel tareq chora shouldn't be a part of bangladeshi politics. Mr 15% is a disgrace.
Definitely we need at least two political parties for. Balance .
So I don't feel that the mafia family ( mother and her son ) should be leading even as the opposition in Bangladesh. Because perhaps it will not be healthy if awmi league rules forever, so we need an effective opposition as alternative.
But tareq shouldn't be this alternative.
So BNP should choose another leader outside this family IMHO.

LOL. There is no sure thing except death. And nothing lasts forever, let alone AL. AL's been crafting its down-fall all along by its own doings.

This part is disastrous , as no one should rule forever .
So I believe BNP should choose another leader outside from Zia family.
Ziaur Rahman was a great personality no doubt , but his wife has no grace , looks like a witch and worked like witch too. Tareq chora is even worse !
Still if AL will rule forever , it will be bad as already chetona version ( leftist)has crossed every limit .
I don't believe that chhatra league thugs will ever be able to use their own brain , they are heavily under control by leftist. And this bengali leftist are Indian Dalal in reality.

The last remnants of hope of BD Muslims for a institutional and consititional change is gone!!! Now, they have no choice other than going for the plan B!!! BD Muslims are no Indian Muslims - even Pak wasn't enough for them!!! Hopefully, they'll go for "total and final" solution this time!!! '47 and '75 will pale before what's gonna unravel!! As for Pak, every support they give to their Deep State and every cent they spend for their defense are 200% Helal. Now it's the time for BD Muslims to build their very own Deep State and build defense forces even it means to "eat grass"!!! Unfortunately, there're no other ways to maintain even the tiniest semblance of sovereignty!!!

As for the Ehl-i Iman, there exists Khair in every Sher, and vice versa!!! And, both Khair and Sher occur as a part of the Murad-I Ilahi. TIME is on the side of BD Muslims....

No pressure will bend Begum Zia. She may choose to die in jail but will not go election under Hasina. Hasina is dire need to legitimize her regime.

BNP ultimate success would be not to participate any election under crook Hasina.

Hasina may rule BD until death but she will die as dictator whereas Begum Zia will die as champion of democracy.

Anyway, game is not over yet. We have to wait little longer to see who will win ultimately.

She is paying the price for not standing up to the AL regime.

Agreed! In BD there is no such thing as normal politics. Zoor jar mulk thar.

BNP would not miss the train this time. And all these things happening now a days, like todays verdict, banking scandals, scandals with exams, extreme food inflation, political intolerance, cronyism & dominance by BAL & Chattra League members etc are all playing into BNP's favor. Even in 2014 election year BNP had popular support but they fall into AL trap of boycotting national election altogether. With the current state AL is quite merginalized at the grassroot level and BNP seems playing deep this time around. Two things are quite possible. Either AL will be compeled to compromise and settle down with terms that BNP wants for a percipatory election. Or BNP will take the path of making a constitutional crisis by not letting the election to take place, where a 3rd party would step in (eg. Army). But no way BNP would boycott this time like a crybaby.

Wish your side the best of luck. The time is now (window of about a year), otherwise its too late. Get busy...don't roll over and just let this happen. When you win, make sure you set the courts/system right permanently too please.

Its never really over, but how long you lot just gonna sit back and take this? Just waiting for the brittleness to crack itself is not going to cut it.

After BNP came back to power in 2002, it prosecuted Hasina for the alleged taking graft from the Russians when buying Mig-29 planes only @$15 million per unit. The Judges could not be convinced that there was bribery in the purchase and she was not convicted. Begum Zia in the meantime made the Frigate Bangabandhu a naval museum, because she thought BD does not need expensive armaments. She also said the Migs would be sold to some other countries.

Now, Begum Zia herself has been prosecuted for mishandling an orphanage fund and given a jail verdict when AL govt is purchasing a huge quantity of new armaments.

Begum Zia insulted by expelling the then President Dr. Badruddoza Chowdhry. BNP was ultimately saw divisions after that. It may not come back in one unit again. What goes around comes around.

.
At each govt.'s tenure, they appoint the judges for the courts as per their likings. Govt meddling with court system is an old accusation in BD. But the question is the radicalization of the political culture & development of political intolerance in BD. BNP could have forced countless verdicts against Hasina at lower courts back in the old days if they wanted to. But that would have made politics more difficult for BNP itself. Politics (in this region) isn't a Zero sum game which AL seems to have not learnt this time. It's a game with two courts. Once you serve the ball & later the other. What AL is doing is kinda Fascism.y

Khaleda gets fruits, juice as first meal in jail

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was served papaya juice and assorted fruits after she was taken to old central jail on Nazimuddin Road in Bakshi Bazar on Thursday.

As per UNB, the BNP chief was taken to the jail by a white SUV amid tight security measures.

According to a jail source, Khaleda's domestic help Fatema Begum is accompanying her inside the jail.

He said Ahsan Habib, a physician of the central jail, conducted a physical checkup of Khaleda and found her blood pressure and pulses normal.

Later, she was given papaya juice and some low-sugar fruits like apple, oranges and grapes.

The BNP chief has now been kept in a large room which was earlier used as the office of the jail super.

"The room has been made neat and clean and upgraded with all facilities like AC, cable TV connection, kitchen, healthy washroom and cozy bed, for a VIP prisoner," said a jail official wishing anonymity.

He said the BNP chief will be kept there for a few days, and she will either be moved to the old jail's female ward near the day-care centre, or to a rented house that will be declared a sub-jail by the Home Ministry.

Buddy, your thoughts are unusually positive for democracy in BD. It's nice to have a neighbour who wishes us the best.

Typical AL rant! The Nazis in Germany had declared that they would rule forever. They boasted that they were too smart to be ousted. They had the courts in their pockets too.
