I was talking about what Principals said about moral policing not what cleric said.
Why would I discuss religion with you when you made it clear to me the other day?

I forgot to add that kerala has a conservative yet liberal society. Compared to north India, societies down south are closed societies. So moral policing is part and parcel of it.

He is the spiritual leader of millions of Sunni's, and has been chosen by the sunni ulema of Kerala.

He has every right to declare how sunni women should be treated and us being a democratic society have no right to dictate to our "minority" how to lead thier life. .come to think of it. .What he says is more or less true when it comes to his section of women and how their men consider their leaders guidance.

What the maulana doesn't have a right on is to speak about anybody else other than sunni women.

Don't know what the man said and can't trust indian hindutva media. But choosing of words like "only fit to deliver" (if he indeed said that) was highly inappropriate IMO. But notions of gender equality is indeed un-islamic.

Whether people accept it or not western version of women's right's is absolutely contrary to Islam. There is NO such thing as equal rights. Men and women r different both psychologically and physiologically. Men & women in islam r given due rights NOT equal rights. Islam does not regard men and women as equal in matters where regarding them as equal would result in injustice to one of them, because equality that is inappropriate is a severe form of injustice. Islam is a religion of justice and addresses the practical problems of human beings. I find it absolutely ludicrous that women r now pushed into army combat units under this western notion of "women's rights" where they r raped and abused by their "progressive" male colleagues not to mention the obvious consequence of being taken as a prisoner of war. Western "women's rights" only reduced women to mere objects for exploitation.

In a Democracy the Majority makes the Rules and the Opposing Minority HAS to follow them.

In the US the Minority wanted to continue Keeping SLAVES.......... guess what Abraham Lincon did ? He waged WAR against his own Minority people and imposed Majority Rule that made SLAVERY ILLEGAL.

So if you are in India, better learn to listen to the Majority as Democracy dictates.

I am very much in India..and there is every provision in the rulebook to accommodate minorities with regards to their personal beliefs and their right to follow what they believe...until and unless a certain parameter isn't crossed.

The majority arent the thekedaars of sunni women, they get to follow their mullah and become sunni delivery machines until and unless they do not break any laws.

It Exist because the MAJORITY has graciously decided to grant that space to religious minorities. So don't forget to say Thank You.
