Take a look at the map sometime, that place which is 93% muslim is related more to pakistan than to India. The typical kashmiri looks more like the typical pakistani than he would the typical Indian. Why don't YOU try to reunite with your Bengali brothers since geographically and linguistically they have nothing to do with Pakistanis?

Looks! How does a Pakistani look? Do they all look the same. I see a lot of difference in the way an Imran Khan looked Vs. a Miandad. Looks is not the basis on which nationality is decided in India or the rest of the world. Not sure about Pakistan though, since you guys are so concerned about looks all the time.

If Bangladeshis have nothing in common with you, was it a mistake by Jinnah to have them as a part of Pakistan or was the whole thing a fraud?

.
Hindus are a majority in the country. Kashmir is just a small province and not a particularly important one.?

Keep dreaming vinod.

Tell me how come Kashmir is yours and not Bangladesh? Why not try to reunite with them?.

Well vinod my family comes from kashmir......thats how it belongs to me and me brother kashmiris.......hindus or muslims.....no difference.
Have you ever been to kashmir..?

:rofl::rofl: --- Is Pakistan your idea of the ideal Islamic state?

:rofl::rofl:....NO......but pakistan a whole lot better then being under indian occupation.

You know very well what I mean, Kashmiris and Pakistanis are both North Indian culture and race, Kashmiris and Pakistanis are both more than 90% muslim in their populations. Neither the vast majority of Kashmiris nor the vast majority of Pakistanis want to live in a hindu/dravidian dominated country. Kashmir and Punjab are birds of the same feather and no that bird is not Bharat. The only reason the Sikhs ended up part of India is because of the religious divide and even the Sikhs don't like being opressed by Bharat as is plain obvious. Now coming back to Kashmir there is no religious reason to stay separate from Pakistan which is why you have 700,000 Bharati troops forcing Kashmiris to do something they never wanted to do, which is to be part of India.

Big mistake, it is ridiculous to have two countries both located on opposite ends of a hostile country become the same nation and have one impose its language and culture on the other. In fact at one time Jinnah was contemplating the partition of ALL of Bangladesh from India, so that they could have their own nation with one language to bind them. Kashmir and Pakistan however are geographically connected and part of the same Indus culture.

My dear friend. I am finding it strange to write (knowing about your background) but I am feeling a kind of empathy with you. I wish all the best for you and hope that you can freely visit Kashmir without any fear (though not as a militant).

The only way that can happen is that both the countries sincerely de-escalate the situation and the militancy totally stops. This will help the Indian troops to go back to the barracks and Kashmir can once again become the heaven on the earth it used to be. One, where you and me can both go freely.

Trying to snatch it from India will not only not work but is going to increase the hardships of the Kashmiris, something I believe you may care about though obviously I don't believe that to be true for the terrorists with Islamic outlook ans their leaders and supporters.

You know more than me that they don't even trust the local Kashmiris who they are supposedly helping. And all the abuses of locals and all, but lets not go there for now.

I believe the only solution is to make the borders between the two Kashmirs irrelevant and allow the people to freely go across and mingle.

I can only prey for that day. May be you can do a bit more by advocating peace among your militant friends. Else despite being well-meaning, you are only increasing their problems.

Regarding whether I have been to Kashmir, unfortunately not till date, though many of my family and friends have been there recently and enjoyed it. It has opened for tourism for some years and I hope to go there soon.

:rofl::rofl:....NO......but pakistan a whole lot better then being under indian occupation.

Well, as you say. The Pakistani Kashmir does have its own problems which are not insignificant, but may be cross-border supported militancy/terror is not one of them.

There is a lot you can do to help the Pakistani people in their current moment of crisis. See if you keep saying how great an Islamic state is (which I am sure you believe to be true), outsiders just do not see it that way and for a reason.

Make an ideal Islamic welfare state in what you have now and present a great example that people can see instead of just listen about.

You hit the nail on the head. Also in the Indian Kashmir, there are 40% Hindus. So I don't know what you are talking about.

Well you left me speechless. Though I agree with you on the first part. India and Pakistan are geographically connected too. It's just sharing of borders and happens between any two neighboring countries. Doesn't mean that the border state belongs to the other country.

The Indus culture is a common legacy of the two countries and predates by thousands of years the coming of Islam (which was the sole reason for partition).

It is amusing to note that there is a 'typical' Pakistani, who looks like a 'typical' Kashmiri. Human cloning is still considered unethical even if Dolly the sheep is an indentical clone! There is nothing 'typical'. Everyone is different.

It is time to read the history of Kashmir rather than assume outlandish ideas.

It is also interesting to note that a Hindu Kashmiri surname is the same as the surname of the Kashmiris of Islamic faith. I would be real surprised to find a Pakistani with a name like Raina or a Ganjoo, but won't be surprised to find a Hindu and an Islamic faith Kashmiri having the same surname!

The mujahideens did not alone defeat the Soviets. There are many reasons as to why the USSR quit including internal dissensions and a failing economy and which reason, the Soviet Union shortly collapsed.

Have the terrorists been able to defeat the US in Iraq. In fact, the US has stabilised and are doing well. Likewise, have the terrorists been able to defeat the US in Afghanistan?

So, where is the question of the terrorist taking Afghanistan and the victory will be theirs! However, it is a good pill for a morale boost since the dark clouds seem to be looming!

If so many years the terrorists have not been able to take Kashmir, what is the magic pill that prompts one to feel that the terrorist will wrest Kashmir?

Sir,

All this empty boasting is nothing but a desperate search for light at the end of the tunnel. Doesn't matter even if the light is being emitted by fireflies.

Look, I think Yasin Malik is a sincere man who believes that he is right. I don't doubt either his love for Kashmir or his good intentions.

However, he must be pragmatic and strike a balance between what he wants and what it is possible for him to achieve.

Kashmir is already an autonomous region. It has its own flag, its own constitution, and enjoys more freedom over its affairs than any other Indian state
Indians from other parts of India cannot buy property or settle there, which prevents the demographics from changing.
Kashmiris have full freedom to practice their faith, pursue their interests, and avail of central funding for education and infrastructure projects that will improve their lives manifold.

He should study the situation in Bhutan, which is also an Indian Protectorate. That country is doing very well, and its people are quite contented with their lives. India doesn't interfere with its internal matters as long as it doesn't conduct anti-India activities within its territory.

If Kashmiri militants lay down their arms and cooperate with the authorities, there will be no need for such a huge armed presence in the valley to keep some semblance of order.

If people like him continue to spread terror in the valley, however, then the situation will never improve

As I explained earlier, an Independent country comprising the Kashmir valley is a very risky proposition for the stability of the region. Pakistan is already buffeted by fundamentalist forces, and it won't be too difficult for Islamists to take over a tiny country which is already facing an Islamist insurgency.

The Indian Election Commission is the only body in the entire subcontinent which has been able to organize free and fair elections on a consistent basis. If Kashmiris want democracy, this is their best bet.

I must say I am really amused at most comments including SA's, Vish and ofcourse Dabongs.

Well Yasin Malik wishes an independant KASHMIR consisting of Pakistan, Indian and Chinese Occupied areas.

He thinks Azad Kashmir is a farce.

So why are Pakistani and Indian members fighting over his statement.

Yasin Malik calls for totally Independent Kashmir

Yasin Malik calls for totally Independent Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, June 7 (Online): The leader of APHC and Chairman of the JKLF Malik Yasin has said that the only viable solution of the Kashmir Issue is a totally Independent Kashmir. Talking to a representative of Online by telephone he said that there are no such things as an \"Atoot ang\" (inseparable part Of India) or a Federation (Of Pakistan), in the lexicon of Kashmiri aspirations. A neutral, total Kashmir is the agenda. He chided the government and leaders of Azad Kashmir as toadies, and \"courtiers under servitude\" of their Pakistani masters .

He also said that, APHC leaders were fully aware of intentions and Hippocratic attitude of various leaders, but will abide their time and forego any retaliation for better and bright future prospects. He said that he had met and gathered the point of view of the leaders of Azad Kashmir. He was dumbfounded by the fact that such unimportant and unknown elements to the occupied Kashmir were taking all the credit and grandiose titles of \"Mujahid-e-Awal\" for feats of glory, martyrdoms, sufferings and humiliations suffered by the Jammu and Kashmir side. He claimed that the Issue of Kashmir was highlighted on the International Forum in the era of 1988, and it was spearheaded by JKLF. He said that Issue of Kashmir should not be taken as a border dispute between India and Pakistan, but rather in a broader sense of War of Independence for a sovereign Kashmir.
