Kashmir, the “Final” solution!

The proposal is still being reviewed by Pakistan. Need to wait for the final response/agreement. There is concerns that hawks on Pakistani side may ask for plebiscite in the entire J&K instead of limiting just to the valley.

Of course they will, valley is tiny part of Kashmir. So technically Pakistan already have 80% of muslim majority land. That leaves us with less land and more corrupt Kashmiris braderi? We are already sick of Nawaz Sharif. @Zibago

May as well continue the dispute to take revenge of Baloch insurgency.

India and Pakistan will never fight a war, to even think of it is foolish: Imran Khan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday borrowed heavily from cricketing nuances and literary works to highlight the need for his country to better relations with India. Speaking shortly after the laying the foundation stone for Kartarpur Corridor, he said the two nuclear-armed countries will never fight a war against each other.

Cricketer-turned-politician-turned-PM Imran said that cricketers who take risks and break the norms tend to be more successful than those who don't. He used the reference to explain just why both Pakistan and India should let go off traditional rivalries. "Where Pakistan and India stand today, we have seen such a situation for 70 years now. We will stay stuck this way unless we break the shackles of the past and stop blaming each other. There have been mistakes on both sides. (But) We should not live in the past. It should be used to learn lessons," he said.

Imran also attempted to mount a defence for Sidhu who was criticised in India for hugging Pakistan Army chief during his previous visit. "I just don't get the reactions Sidhu got after his last visit. Here was a man who came with a message of peace. Peace is what all of us want. Both our countries are nuclear powers. There can never be any war between Pakistan and India and to even think of it is absolutely foolish," he said.

Even as Imran calls for peace, India has maintained that bilateral talks cannot take place till Islamabad stops supporting terrorism. And while the Pakistani PM maintained that there needs to be a political will in India to establish good neighbourly relations, he did not address the issue of home-grown terrorism and the repeatedly established fact that the country's Army and ISI extends covert and overt support to terrorists.

ISLAMABAD —Accepting the recommendations of a reforms committee, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan gave the approval to change the status of Gilgit-Baltistan to an interim province, a Pakistan media report said on Wednesday.

According to Express News, a meeting was held on Tuesday, presided by the premier, in which the recommendations were presented.

PM Imran approved and directed that the recommendations be presented before the federal cabinet. The committee also recommended that the region is given due rights, the report quoting sources said.

The committee formed to bring constitutional and structural reforms in G-B held its second session on Tuesday, which was attended and presided by Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs Ali Ameen Khan in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the lower committee presented its recommendations, after which committee members met PM Imran at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting at the PM House was also attended by Law minister Farogh Naseem, the attorney general of Pakistan, governor G-B, minister for defence, and other prominent figures.

KARTARPUR: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said if Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu contests elections in Pakistan, he will win. He also ridiculed the criticism that Sidhu faced for his visit to Pakistan in August.

"I heard there was a lot of criticism of Sidhu when he went back after my oath-taking ceremony. I don't know why was he criticised. He was just talking about peace and brotherhood. He can come and contest election here in Pakistan's Punjab, he'll win," Khan said while speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Kararpur corridor in Pakistan.

Khan also added that Pakistan wants to mend ties with India. "If India takes one step forward then we will take two steps forward toward friendship. I the prime minister, my political party, the rest of our political parties, our army, all our institutions are all on one page. We want to move forward," Khan said. (Read full report here)

The fondness that Imran Khan showed was not one-sided as his 'friend' Sidhu also heaped praises for the Pakistan Prime Minister. In his inimitable style, Sidhu took to poetry to express his gratitude to Imran for giving his nod to the Kartarpur Corridor. "Mera yaar, dildaar, Imran Khan," he said adding that his "big hearted" friend has kept his promise and ended 70 years of wait for the corridor.

"The Kartarpur Spirit can make pilgrims of us all, venturing out on a journey that breaks the barriers of history and opens the borders of the heart and the mind. A journey that our people can walk together towards, a future of shared peace and prosperity for India and Pakistan," he said ahead of the ceremony.

He added that there had been enough bad blood and that the corridor would be a major opportunity to open the doors of the hearts of the people. "Violence must stop and peace should return to the region," he said. Sidhu said that if the borders between both countries opened, it would be possible to transport goods to different parts of Pakistan and even others countries.

"This is my hope, this is my dream ... While there is blood in my veins, I will continue to thank both governments," he said. "My father used to tell me that Punjab Mail went till Lahore, I believe that it can go further till Peshawar, till Afghanistan," he said.

If Gilgit Baltistian joins Pakistan, and AJK and Kashmir valley become one state and Jammu and Ladakh goes to India, then maybe I could accept that.

We will see.

Pakistanis 'on one page' in seeking friendship with India: PM Khan

The agreement is a rare instance of cooperation between the South Asian rivals which have fought three wars since independence from Britain in 1947.

Appealing for a thaw in ties, Khan called for improvements in trade and other cross-border interaction and urged ending poverty through cooperation.

Muslim Pakistan and mostly Hindu India have a range of disputes but their main bone of contention is the Muslim-majority Himalayan region of Kashmir, which they both claim in full but rule in part.

India accuses Pakistan of training and arming separatist militants battling Indian security forces in the Indian part of Kashmir.

Pakistan denies that saying it only offers political support to the Kashmiri people's campaign against what they see as unjust treatment by New Delhi.

Violence in Kashmir routinely triggers tension between the two countries.

In September, India called off a meeting between their foreign ministers to protest against the killing of Indian security personnel in Kashmir.

Khan said both countries stood to gain from better ties.

"We need leaders on both sides of the border who resolve to end this problem and I assure you the problem will be solved," Khan said.

"Can you imagine how much this would benefit both countries?"

However, it is Pakistan's military, not its civilian leaders, that has traditionally set policy towards India, and military leaders have invariably been more cautious.

The tourism minister of India's border state of Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu, was among officials who crossed the border for Wednesday's inauguration.

"Both the governments should realise that we have to move forward," Sidhu, a Sikh, said in a speech before Khan spoke.

Next year is the 550th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, in a small village near Lahore.

Thousands of Sikhs from India and beyond every year visit a shrine in the Pakistani village of Kartarpur, where Nanak died.

. . . .
Will the land be swapped or people be swapped based on those results?
Don't play games with me. Those districts with a Muslim majority will go to Pakistan.

Those districts with a Hindu majority and a Buddhist majority can go to India.

A done deal.

What happens when Kashmir valley votes to stay in India and Kargil votes to join Pakistan?

Will we have a Pakistani enclave within India?

Why would Kashmir Valley want to join India you moron? Kargil will definitely join Pakistan since it is a Muslim majority of Ladakh section. Leh district goes to India because it is Buddhist majority and most of Jammu goes to India because it is Hindu majority.

There done!

Kashmir Valley is Muslim majority so it will vote to join Pakistan.

.
Once Pakistan agrees to the proposal, India would announce the division of J&K and conduct the plebiscite in the Kashmir valley.
Are you really sane.
This is too good to be true.
Even in my wildest dream I cannot imagine a better solution without war.
The ladak and gilgit baltistan were one part and jammu and kashmir were one.
India takes ladakh and pakistan takes gilgit baltistan.
Now remains the Valley.
Which should be divided into jammu and kashmir. Jammu can be given to idnia and kashmir can be to Pakistan through referendum.
But Modi is not that simpleton.
Really. Even I his biggest critic don't think he is that much of a moreon.
If he does that, he would be remembered a the beacon of peace.

You can check with @BHarwana

Pakistan is sharing intelligence with India but will not acknowledge it publicly for fear of the backlash.
You are not sane.
I am now sure.
I mean why they are at each other necks of they have worked everything out.
