ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Senator Babar Awan says President Asif Ali Zardari and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain are working together to strengthen institutions, Express 24/7 reported on Saturday.
The PPP leader was addressing the media with Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad of the MQM at his residence in Islamabad.
Awan said governor Sindh wanted both political parties to cooperate for democratic stability and that there were certain elements exploiting the rift between PPP and MQM.

Ebad said the situation in Karachi needed to be controlled before the need for army action in the city rose. He said MQM chief Altaf Hussain wants a formula to stabilise the city.
The Sindh governor said that political and administrative decisions need to be taken in Karachi and that he prefers a political solution for peace in the city.
It had earlier been reported that the PPP and MQM have agreed to a formula which will pave the way for the latter’s eventual return to the government.
According to the formula, in the first phase, the PPP has conceded to the MQM’s demand for the restoration of the local government system – but only in Karachi and Hyderabad. However, in the remaining 21 districts of Sindh, the commissionerate system will remain in place, highly-placed sources told Daily Express.
