Kalabagh Dam - Why it wasn't developed and still isn't?

Thanks to anti state political parties like PPP and ANP and their short-sighted regional politics. Had this project completed in 80's we would have had a lot less power shortage during the last 3 decades, a lot less floods, a lot more agriculture and a few more industries

Each and every political party in KPK is against construction of Kalabagh Dam......even the KP wings of PTI, PPP and JI , and JUI

.
Kalabagh is a political issue rather than technical issue . People debating Kalabagh have no idea about pros and cons they just either took money from Indians or too Jahil to see ,Every year Millions of liter got wasted in sea but hell yea we are not going to build any dam

Interesting answer Sir. Will you tell me how long do the power outages last now a days? Has anything changed compared to a few year ago? (I read some member's comments here a few years ago that the electricity goes away for 18 hours a day). How long was it for, and what is it now? Thanks
I'm not the right person to answer this question, becuase i don't live in Pakistan.
Generally, situation has improved many folds, ever since Zardari regime is no more.
Still, situation is worst in villages and state maintained areas.
I hope you know, in Pakistan people despite paying tax to govt., build and maintain infrastructure on self finance basis. So, those privately maintained subcities have their private power generation, so when Pakistan was in dark, those privately maintained subcities were not.
If any one happen to fly over Lahore in night, you would be able to spot such subcities easily.

Each and every political party in KPK is against construction of Kalabagh Dam......even the KP wings of PTI, PPP and JI , and JUI
State should shoot all those who protest or use force, against federal matters.

Chaudhry Moonis Elahi Stance On Sustainable Energy Recognized!

moonis-elahi-stance-on-sustainable-energy-recognized.jpg

In a recent interview in Lahore, Punjab Mines and Mineral Minister Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan has also agreed to the fact that sustainable energy is the key to a sustainable future. Moonis Elahi, a young prominent politician and a leader of PMLQ, has always raised his voice in favor of Kalabagh Dam which guarantees sustainable energy. The controversial dam has been maligned by many politicians who are known to be in good books with the neighboring country India. It is widely speculated being funded by the neighbor country, these politicians have started a drive to misguide the nation about the dam and refrain it from becoming a reality which in fact would be a blessing to the country.

Chaudhry Moonis Elahi Concerned About Loyal Govt Officers!

moonis-elahi-concerned-about-chairman-wapda-resign.jpg

PMLN has always set new records of corruption whenever it gains power. They have been accused time and again of misusing the state’s institutions and looting tax money. As panama papers have also identified Nawaz Sharif‘s huge wealth in the name of his family, his corruption still does not cease.

In the wake of his incompetence to rule the country with fairness, patriotic and loyal Govt officials are finding it hard to work under PMLN‘s rule. Due to their embezzlement’s institutions aren’t allowed to work as per their needs and at the end they get blamed which is a serious concern. at first it was the Chairman WAPDA resigned due to their negative policies and now Neelum Jehlum CEO has quit owing to Government policies.

Why can't Nawaz Sharif order an executive order and get this Kalabah dam built? Does he not have the power? Do you need majority of what?

Each and every political party in KPK is against construction of Kalabagh Dam......even the KP wings of PTI, PPP and JI , and JUI

Why are they against it? Why can't PM order executive order .... water is important for the country doesn't matter what partys or groups think....

What are the negatives of Kalabah Dam? Pak needs this...

There is no need to build Kalabagh dam right now

We need funds for

Diamer Bhasha Dam - 14 billion dollars
Dasu Dam - 4 billion dollars
Munda Dam - 1.50 billion dollars
Other dams costing over 20 billion dollars

Bunji, Thakot, Patan Hydropower projects

and other hydropower projects costing over 40 billion dollars

So we are techniy talking about funds required over 100 billion dollars to fulfil the energy demand, flood control and irrigatiom purposes. Once we have all that, we can focus on Kalabagh

Wait for another 20-30 years as we got alternatives available. When Kalabagh becomes a dire need, we can talk about it

This is not enough.... the projects you listed will add around 12000MW but pak needs 400,000MW at least..... Sindh area needs 50,000MW and Balochistan needs 50,000MW.... Punjab needs 200,000MW... when Pak has around 400,000mw This will take it 2nd world country in regards to Energy.

I am not sure where you are getting these figures from

Bhasha Dam and Bunji Itself produces 7100mw + 4500 = 11600
Add Tarbela extension of 1400mw and Dasu for 4200mw and I am yet to mention another 40 or so projects taking the total electricity generation from Hydel projects to well over 30,000mw

All I am saying is this that its not enough total energy.... Pakistan needs much more ..... if were are to look at where Pakistan is on Electricity production its around 35th on the list.... we need much more energy.
