Most of the parties are making it Political issue and taking their own gains ...
Sindhi thoughts that Punjab will take all the water but in reality sindh will get extra 4 million Cusec feet of water
Through a proper co ordination between provinces the Dam can be built in pretty much less cost

ANP might be doing politics on the issue but there is genuine threat to fertile lands of Peshawer valley from construction of kalabagh dam. Thats why people of peshawer valley, of any ideological and political background are opposing it. Note that 40% population of KPK reside in peshawer valley (nowshera, charsada, mardan, swabi and peshawer)

KPK's CM says that he has no issues if the engineers convince him over the safety issues. KBD's design has been changed btw.

Summary of Problem is from Sindh Side mostly

a) They say that if Kala Bagh Dam is build , the naturally occurring Mangroves that are present on shores of Sindh would disappear because if flow of water is low , the salt water will creep up the rivers and salt water will kill Mangroves

b) Mangroves , protect the cities from Hurricanes or Major Sea storm also they house variety of Animal Life which is a
gift to people of Pakistan

c) Of course there is also objection about the share of water the farm lands in Sindh will get from the dam project
which is more less political weapon then reality , in reality Pakistan will have more "WATER" to share today
most of this water drains into Sea !!!

d) Some minor relocation of people 80,000 in KPK province

Is there any way to mitigate the environmental impact ? Or perhaps some alternative more environmentally friendly scheme ?

Since Pakistan has not even started the project (analysis stage), the Dam will never get done

Yes due to work start in kalabagh, Thar is drought and when work finish Arabian sea will b drought.

Maybe they should rename this as 'Chittabagh'. The dream might have more chances coming true.

How about baynazirbagh and whole PPP will support that .
