What's new

Kalabagh Dam can do wonders for Pakistan's economy.

I will have both of your nuts squished along with telling Altaf Bhai what you've been saying about him behind his back if you don't support the construction of this Dam !

Bunnn ke raheiii gaa Kalabagh....Leiii keiii raheiiin geiii Kalabagh ! :yay:

Yar I was & still in favor Kala Baag Dam ..... but as a matter of fact this project should not be started by Government having its political power center in Punjab more specifically central Punjab ...... anyone from KPK or Interior Sindh would be more suitable.....

We've waited these many years for something to happen ! The politicians of Punjab are a bunch of cowards whilst the Politicians of Sindh, Baluchistan & KP have a tendency of using the KBD as an Electioneering Tool to cover their own gross incompetencies.

I think the present Government must conduct a country-wide referendum on this - If the result is in favour of constructing the KBD - Lets do it !

To hell with the Naysayers ! :bunny:

No one is willing to be on-topic, except an Indian and he gets bashed

My dear its a bad idea it will create unwanted rift in National Fabric .... just concentrate Diamir Basha Dam and other project in North ..... by this we will not only get the desire outcome economically but politically as well, construction of any new dam in north will cause a dent to Sindhi Nationalist who are opposing any Dam over Indus river..... though they do not have vote Bank but have street power + finance available from different sources ..... to run an effective camping

No sir no more compromise on the Kalabagh Dam Issue - We refuse to be blackmailed by Sindhi, Pukhtoon & Baluch Nationalists & the many gullible idiots in Punjab & the rest of Pakistan !

I think this Dam must & should be build even if it requires creating a rift in the National Fabric because if Pakistan isn't even strong enough to bear a single Dam then maybe we shouldn't be together anyhow !

.
How about building uncontroversial ones at first? Build one, for heaven sake.

I think even @Secur is against the construction of the KBD ! :cray:

You don't say it... Dirty little secret of yours is too strong to create a stir. Tau shabash kalabagh ke elawa koi bhi jaldi see bana lo.

The sarcasm escaped me !

And no more appeasement policy - Kalabagh is where the line draws ! Where it for any reason other than the simple fact that its in Punjab I would've said 'to hell with it' lets build another one but this deeply entrenched Punjabi-Hatred of the other three is beginning to test even our nerves & we usually don't give a frig about ethnicity or linguistics !

No saner would advocate appeasement policy here. Whatever the reason is - we all know this dam can't be built without a prior consensus and reaching to a consensus on this dam seems to be as difficult as climbing up a mount without climbing equipment. So isn't it better in the larger interest of the federation to build and plan other dams instead of wasting time and throwing down the gauntlets on a controversial dam? Arguments and counterarguments will only ignite hatred.

I personally don't oppose KBD as I have no reason to oppose it. For me a dam as long as capable of generating power and storing water is a dam.

Why should we endlessly suffer the lunacy of people & their absolute gullibility in being syphoned in with such combustible & at times hateful rhetoric ? From the Indus Water Treaty to the NFC Award we've been doing this endlessly for the greater interest of the Federation when other units of the same Federation don't give a wooden nickle about us - It has to stop somewhere !

This Dam provides both KP & Punjab an abundance of cultivable land & would therefore serve as catalyst for poverty alleviation & development in those otherwise underdeveloped areas, in addition to being a powerhouse & a huge reservoir of water for a country & by extension us - the provinces - staring possible severe future water scarcity in the face.

One cannot ask me to continue to give up my right to progress & economic upliftment because my brothers continue to either emotionally blackmail me or to play the 'victim card' with me without remorse or pity !

This is an issue in a long list of issues that I'm not willing to brush under the carpet for the greater good of the Federation only to wait for another issue to pop up later on that I'm required to do away with again because of the greater good of the Federation.

A referendum must be held on this Dam & if the result of that referendum decides in its favour than it must be constructed come what may !

I know !

KBD is by far the most economical of the proposed Dams & the one that cultivates the most land - Up North the land does't allow cultivation of this scale nor the construction of diversion canals to bring adequate water down stream for cultivation.

Your thoughts @cb4 @LoveIcon @mafiya !

The problem is that the politicians in Sindh and Pakhtunkwa have been talking against it for so long that the people of the provinces think that they will suffer.
If the dam has to be constructed, the goal odf the govt is to allay the fears of the people that it is good for all of them and any who does suffer (a lot of land will be submerged in water in Pakhtunkwa), should be compensated and given new lands elsewhere. If it is done in an open and honest way than it can be done.
I read somewhere that when started it will take many years to build the dam, so we are already late.
And we still are trying to argue with each other about its merits.

Maybe they should rename this as 'Chittabagh'. The dream might have more chances coming true.
