Why should we endlessly suffer the lunacy of people & their absolute gullibility in being syphoned in with such combustible & at times hateful rhetoric ? From the Indus Water Treaty to the NFC Award we've been doing this endlessly for the greater interest of the Federation when other units of the same Federation don't give a wooden nickle about us - It has to stop somewhere !
This Dam provides both KP & Punjab an abundance of cultivable land & would therefore serve as catalyst for poverty alleviation & development in those otherwise underdeveloped areas, in addition to being a powerhouse & a huge reservoir of water for a country & by extension us - the provinces - staring possible severe future water scarcity in the face.
One cannot ask me to continue to give up my right to progress & economic upliftment because my brothers continue to either emotionally blackmail me or to play the 'victim card' with me without remorse or pity !
This is an issue in a long list of issues that I'm not willing to brush under the carpet for the greater good of the Federation only to wait for another issue to pop up later on that I'm required to do away with again because of the greater good of the Federation.
A referendum must be held on this Dam & if the result of that referendum decides in its favour than it must be constructed come what may !
I know !
KBD is by far the most economical of the proposed Dams & the one that cultivates the most land - Up North the land does't allow cultivation of this scale nor the construction of diversion canals to bring adequate water down stream for cultivation.
Your thoughts @cb4 @LoveIcon @mafiya !
@Armstrong,
KBD is not more important than Pakistan. I know and you know, and many others know that the project is feasible. But there is too much politics involved.
BTW, a case can be made for drawing some water for KPK, but there can be no water for Punjab. Sindh has greater rights over Indus water. They will raise hell if eve a single cusec is used in Punjab. We in Punjab should emphasize conservation of water resources. None of the objectives would be realized if significant quantity of stored water is used for irrigation. How would Sindh benefit from cultivation of lands in Punjab? To get anything positive done, we must respect Sindh's rights.
Kalabagh could not become reality until all ethnicities in Pakistan start to live in harmony and have a utopian unity among them
What Greater good for us is Punjabi domination for other "mazloom brothers" of Pakistan
Even if "Punjaabi Prime minister" announces referendum on kalabagh only, we will see peaceful political parties in Sindh tearing karachi and whole apart in their "peaceful protests"
Sindh will face drought if This dam is build...
Since Pakistan has not even started the project (analysis stage), the Dam will never get done
So what do we continue to do ? Keep on saying 'Chalooo Koiii Nahin Federation comes First' no matter the issue ?
Punjab can not survive alone and as an independent entity . We are much dependent on other provinces as other provinces are dependent on us. Pakistan as a whole passing through screw up phase where people in two provinces are rebelling against the federation and the in third province Sindh, there is a war going on to control it's resources by ethnic and nationalistic political parties.
At this time/phase, we need stability more than kalabagh dam in Punjaab. Why there is no large political/ethnic/sectarian tensions and killings in Punjaab?
Because all "mazloom brothers" attentions are divided. by raising slogan of Kalabagh dam, we would screw the artifical stability of Punjaab. Baloch nationalists(BLA/BRA last week some members caught for their role in Purani anarkali), Sindhi nationalists/rebels (Sindhu desh activists still active). ANP nationalists (With the support of afghan elements which they are trying to give it to taliban but could be diverted to Pashtoon nationalist)
Punjaab would become unstable. So for the greater good of keeping punjaab stability and until all the rebellion put down in other provinces, I would like to sacrifice our right of Kalabagh dam.
Neither we have money nor resources to build kalabagh dam. Raising the issue of Kalabagh dam will be just like PPP taking up South Punjaab province cause and propagating it so hard that not a single seat they could win from there in latest elections and PML-N who played it cool took all the seats.
Timing is crucial and current atmosphere is not right to raise kalabagh dam issue.

I wasn't saying Now !
I was talking about the principle !

No sir no more compromise on the Kalabagh Dam Issue - We refuse to be blackmailed by Sindhi, Pukhtoon & Baluch Nationalists & the many gullible idiots in Punjab & the rest of Pakistan !
I think this Dam must & should be build even if it requires creating a rift in the National Fabric because if Pakistan isn't even strong enough to bear a single Dam then maybe we shouldn't be together anyhow !
