What's new

Journalist Saleem Shahzad Abducted and found dead.

...there was NOTHING dangerous or new in his report which could have harmed ISI.
But there was plenty of stuff in his reports that could and did hurt the Navy. The Navy has been under scrutiny for its terror-training ties since 26/11. If Shahzad had dredged more Navy mud then it is easy to imagine that some outfit, perhaps independent of ISI higher-ups, kidnapped him for their own ends and dumped his body afterwards.

@Jana
You are a journalist. Stop making excuses for those who were responsible for the torture & murder of one of your tribe. It isn't the Indians who are insisting that it was the ISI, those were the words of the murdered man. Salem Shahzad had said that if he was abducted, it was the ISI which would be responsible. That may be right or may be wrong. There is simply no way to know at this point. That however is what is being said by those close to him.

Sad story.

Sad that someone like you have now been reduced to arguing that it is somehow acceptable that an intelligence agency kidnap a man even if it is, as you suggest just a means to glean information.

When Agno wrote that, Saleem Shahzad had not been reported dead.

Though the response was to Jana.. i just wanted to clear this thing for you..

Agencies all over the world 'kidnap' people, it is just not 'told' to anyone, or in simple words, not 'declared' openly.. otherwise, there is no point of it being a 'intelligence' agency, now is it? Remember post 9/11 in USA? thousands were 'picked' and then 'cleared'..

these people are not kidnapped for ransom, they are 'picked' in case they are threat to national security.. If you don't accept the existence of such practice, then i guess you do not understand how a 'state' works..

The question here is.. What had happened? it cannot be ISI.. no question about it.. agencies are not 'stupid' to 'frame' themselves..

Cheers!

In America people are detained for questioning via legal processes, that doesn't happen in Pakistan, where the actions of the "agencies" are not subject to the law. They aren't even subject to independent oversight! (I wonder how many Pakistanis pretend to be ISI, just to scare and control others.)

Normal questioning can/should be done by asking them formally, as is done in Pakistan also.. but are you sure that if an activity against state is happening where the culprit's open arrest could trigger a chain reaction or he might go 'underground', they will ask him 'via legal process'?

For the bold part, that is exactly the reason why i do NOT accept this to be ISI's work.. see how 'confirmed' you are about ability of ISI.. besides, ISI doesn't take easy on 'pretenders'

it seems that as usual, some rascals on this forum like to treat mere speculation as proven fact......a weakness and an unfortunate fallacy.

let more facts come out.......so convenient to just blame spooky spooky ''ISI'' all the time

read his last article wherein he has exposed the name of al qaeda groupi and said al qaeda attacked Mehran base.

what all he reported was dangerous for al qaeda and not Navy as navy had already arrested officials much before this attack , they were arrested in connection with attack on Navy bus in Karachi . what all saleem reported was that after Pakistani military refused to release these officials who were arrested in connection with links with militants, then al-qaeda threatened to attacked Naval base.

Murdered journalist had informed human rights watch that he is under threat from isi and there is chance of isi abducting him..his article does not warrant such a reaction from isi.It seems he knew something more than that, something gravely implicating establishment. That would be the most likely reason he already informed hrw about possible abduction by isi.

If i give you a call right now and tell you that i'm calling from RAW and if you don't stop working at your current position, you'll be abducted.. what will you do? seek protection from Police and other Civil authorities.. against whom? RAW or unknown terrorists??

hope i cleared my point..

America has a functioning legal system. Pakistan's legal system consists of idiots who offer prayers for Osama and release terrorists even if evidence is provided. That's the big difference.

trolls dont take points, they just troll further

best to ignore, let the mods deal with him for spreading garbage

Do you mean some others might have given him the false impression that he is under isi threat, and that might have made him inform hrw that he is likely to get abducted by isi?
