JF-17B Updates, News & Discussion

Easy to say, hard to implement. Whose jurisdictional duty would it be, and who would pay for it, both for the initial move and then to maintain the sites?
I fully agree. its not just hard but actually impossible.

just mentioned it for the sake of being complete and then pick the best option which is an active drive to keep the surroundings clear of trash dumps that attact scavangers

A bird strike cannot take down FC1 except for extremely rare double bird strike choking both inlets causing fan failure due to fan blade, bearing & exit vane deformation, reduction in cross-section & surge. With protection build into the inlet design, this is extremely unlikely. If it has, then it would constitute a major design failure. On the contrary, it looks other than that, probably a failure of LPC which should be a cause of critical concern. Lack of basic engineering in turbine design & control and the flow-out from this critical deficiency will continue to hit PAF extremely hard. Although PAF had ample time, opportunity and resources to develop a turbofan program over the last three decades but has consistently failed to come upto expectations. 58% or 98% share means nothing if you cannot develop a turbofan for your fighter jet program. Super powers understood it very well long ago and by intent they invested in turbofan engineering sacrificing their bleeding edge programs. Sometime ago i advised people at the helm to invest in fan designing instead of wasting resources on next generation fighters. Perhaps they are more interested in wasting money. These programs mean nothing without a viable turbofan.

A trainer AC on training sortie and this, makes sense as well.

Crash at final approach is not a good sign even if its a bird strike. We designed FC1 to avert such situations and FC1 RD93 has redundancy build into it. It has excellent low and slow speed flight profile. Looks like a failure of LP. Red alert sign.
Looooool how do u avoid bird strikes? Especially bids the size of vultures

Sorry, but this is the most attrocious peice of nonsense I've ever read, you have no idea about bird strikes and how it can damage aircraft, let alone engines.

The term emphasis, is used as Low and Slow Speed Profile having two inlets designed in a way to help it sustain a bird size of Crow may be. Here, as far as I understand simply that JF-17 inlets are designed in a manner to sustain such bird strike during low and slow speed Profile. However, now only PAF investigation will best as to what really happened. However, from point of view for public discussion and someone involved in program by any means: has some fair point to share merely to further the argument. Secondly, we really need to respectful even when we disagree.

What is the bird size?... small, medium or a large--- eg sparrow, pigeon, eagle/vulture.
Bird strike during which phase of landing....planned/estimated touch down distance from the landing approach where bird strike occurred.
Aircraft speed, landing gear and flap position and throttle selection.
Location of bird strike. engine ingestion, canopy shattered, fight control damage/restricted.
If engine ingestion, engine flamed out? heavy vibration?
Though pilots are being trained to handle aircraft by simulating engine flame out during landing phase, but JF-17B is newly inducted and slightly different than JF-17A, having swept vertical tail, dual seat and larger dorsal spine. There is a possibility that pilots of this aircraft may not be accustomed to while handling during landing phase with this type of anomaly.

Every thing will be cleared in ongoing BOI.

So this is a brochure from the DEPO website, which is also linked from the MODP website

This picture seems to suggest that would we are calling 'block 2b' has been inducted into Black Panthers as Block 3. This same website has a 2 years performance brochure containing this image:

That looks like a test JF-17. Notably, it seems to be missing the LERX. Did they save one of the earlier prototypes at PAC Kamra? It can be invaluable for further research.

Learn to respectfully disagree and move on instead of calling names. @messiach has been proven correct about thunders developments.

The engine is the heart without that the body is dead.

It's good to have you back. :)
