I wad at work the last time I posted..... I couldn't listen to the podcast but I have some time now so I'm listening (I just paused it)....
for those of you that have been wanting the podcast to be translated (or at least summarized).....
I do intend to work on summarizing it but.......
I'm listening to the podcast and I've been informed a few things
for example, they just explained that Pakistan means "land of purity" and that "stan" means "land of".......
they also said Pakistan and India are arch-rivals, said that Soviets supported India, China supported Pakistan, mentioned that a lot of people suffered during Partition...... they also took some shots at the British for being evil and defended Spain and the Spanish Empire
(the podcast is from Spain.... a lot of Spaniards believe the British empire was worse than the Spanish Empire and that the Spanish Empire was more humane.... and I agree! in Latin America, there are tons of Indians alive and well...... meanwhile in the US the Anglos basically wiped out their entire race........ the Spanish would often marry Indian women and have mixed babies... the Anglos would simply pretty much wipe out the entire Indian race where they lived.... there were also many idealistic Catholic priests who travelled to Latin America with the wish to save the souls of the Indians from hellfire and who often defended the rights of the Indians when they arrived and saw mistreatment.... Spain also had a big debate about the ethics of colonization and I believe was the only European colonial power where they actually had a big debate over the morality of colonialism)
anyways.... I want to post this and get back to listening but.....
as much as I enjoy the podcast.....
there are no actual Pakistanis on the podcast and I doubt any of them speak Urdu.....
these are Spaniards going off Spanish-language sources....
I think they are well-intentioned and I think it's commendable that they are learning about the history of Pakistan...
but the podcast is by and for a Hispanic audience.....
I say that because..... the podcast is teaching very basic things for an audience that is not very familiar with Pakistan....
if you know Urdu, I think you'd be much better off going to Urdu, Pakistani sources.....
the podcast is very well intentioned but I don't think any of them know Urdu and so I think it would be better to utilize Pakistani sources tbh
I still want to summarize the podcast when I'm done listening but so far it's been very basic lessons about Pakistan for an audience that is not very familiar.... it might get more advanced as I get further in, though
EDIT:
btw if anyone is interested in Pakistani history in Spanish
this is a video discussing the topic of
"why do India and Pakistan hate each other?"
they talk about Muhammad Jinnah and creation of Pakistan... very neat stuff if you maybe want to practice Spanish or simply enjoy content about Pakistani history in Spanish....
but bear in mind, material in Spanish on Pakistani history.... generally it's going to be a bit basic....
