JF-17 definitely has a full all-axis FBW system. It had one from PT-04 onwards according to the insiders. The only solid evidence I have found is this article:

Usman Ansari said:
Aerodynamic changes have increased the manoeuvrability and versatility of the aircraft, and the SBP aircraft probably represent the final airframe configuration. The most notable of these has been the convex DSI (Divertless Supersonic Inlets) intakes. These have helped reduce the overall weight of the airframe, and after an internal redesign, freed up space for more stores, most notably fuel for slightly increased range. These weight saving changes have also allowed the maximum speed to be increased to Mach 1.8. Though this is still limited compared to current fighter aircraft, further changes, (most notably the powerplant), are likely to improve matters somewhat. Other internal changes include a full fly-by-wire set of controls, and more high tech avionics.

From http://usmanansari.com/id12.html, the website of a respected Pakistani journalist. He writes articles for many defence magazines and the above article was published in a magazine called "Combat Aircraft". Interestingly, his article also states that PAF are looking for an AESA radar for the JF.

its not! its just my idea for new hardpoints:agree:

Instead of adding new hardpoints, can you add an IRST on the nose, twin SD-10 on each wing hardpoint and A-darter on the wing-tip hardpoints? Plus an ECM pod under the air intake (not the one with the gun, the other one).

I will not disagree on the authencity of the author, I don't know anything about him. However, reading that statement, I'm not really convinced. I mean, it's just one sentence. But I hope he's right, plans for a fully FBW FCS had always existed for the JF-17, I just assumed that it would happen with all the other changes planned for the sometimes called "JF-17 Block II".

Also from his article:
In terms of electronic warfare capabilities, the JF-17 will be second only to the F-16C Block-52 in PAF service.
Either this article was written before the J-10B/FC-20 excitement, or the author chose to ignore it until more concrete information was available. In any case, it seems the JF-17 will now be third in PAF inventory in terms of EW (after the upgrade, ofcourse), with the first and second spots being contested between the FC-20 and the F-16 Block 52.

. . .
Nice pic MB. Can you tell which missile is attached to the hard point apart from the sidewinders.

IceCold,

I believe these are MK-82 General purpose bombs ( or one from the MK 80 familiy).

The picture is not very clear, but I can see some extra fins in the tail. So it could be that they are GBU (guided bomb units) but without the laser seakers. As you may already know, GBUs are nothing but dumb bombs with a laser seaker at the nose and control fins added to both nose and tail for maneuverability.

It definitely looks like one of the MK-80 family to me. I am more inclined to believe it is MK-82.

what is that THUNDER 04 written on the plane?? does it refer to prototype 04 or is it from the operational serial produced JF??

The famous button: Jettison all stores except a2a...
is this pic from the "evaluation and weapon integration phase of JF" that we have talked about a lot of times?

regards!

It is the old test plane... These are the testings done in China with fueltanks, unguided bombs, Chinese missiles. As far as I know they are finished. They are not the same done in Pakistan. Probably to verify some but mostly Pakistan weapon tests are different.

The same journalist posts at PakDef.info, a quote from one of his posts (replying to a fellow who was asking for clarification on the flight control system):
"Fawad the control systems in the initial prototypes were FBW (pitch only) plus conventional. I was told that due to some problems experienced with the earlier prototypes (in one of the axis, can’t recall which one) it was decided to go with a full FBW system. I believe all the JF-17’s from PT 04 onward are equipped with a full FBW system."

You should check out his other articles, he has some stuff on the Al-Khalid and its upgraded variant which is undergoing testing, Al-Khalid I.

hj, that post is from Usman Shabbir, the admin of Pakdef while the article is from Usman Ansari and I don't think the two are the same person. However both of them, and quite a few other people , have mentioned that JF-17 is now fulll FBW. If you recall, ex-PAF chief when asked to make comparison or rather he was asked if there is a "role model" in front of the JF-17, he said the Gripen and Typhoon. He said, JF-17 has also FBW just as typhoon with the exception that JF-17 had only 7 hardpoints but they were working on increasing those.
