JF-17 (2P29) arrives in Pakistan

Even if AIM-9X is offered to us for JF-17 we still wouldn't buy.
wrong USA catagorically rejected your demand for AIM9X and AIM120D for Blk52 a few years back as per my knowledge as per F16s provided to PAF are for ground offensive against terrorists and no terror group is as advanced to have fighter jets let alone those who might require cutting edge techs and vorthy of an opponent like AIM9X kya samjhe :azn:

really!?......... how do you know that?
We don't want US weapons for JF-17 especially since other options are available such as PL-10 and A-Darter more importantly US weapons are sanction prone. PL-10 has the highest chance of induction and after that A-Darter, I didn't state that A-Darter has the same chances as PL-10 due to the reason that @Bilal Khan 777 stated.

Hi,

HMD is a wonderful addition---but but has no advantage over a HOBS weapon---.

A HOBS addition is an ' Oh Shit " moment for the enemy---HMD is the helmet mounted display rather than the heads up display HUD.
Just to add and please correct me if im wrong HOBS without HMD is useless and similarly HMD without HOBS is useless (For WVR fights) .

Useless is a bit strong. You get limited benefits if you have one without the other. There are some benefits for HOBS only and some for HMD only but optimum benefits for having both working together.

A TVC HOB AAM cannot be utilised to the fullest if there is no look and shoot capable HMD. However, a HMD in an aircraft still gives the pilot much better situational awareness, hence assisting with the mission. A truly 24/7 capable HMD takes the pilot and mission another level, that it gets rid of NVG related mission restrictions, and allows to engage with fighters in WVR beyond the capability envelope of the platform.

PAF will take AIM-9X with both hands if it was authorised for F16s and JF17s.

You are a great guy. We love you and all that but when it comes to the JF-17, I am sorry but we don't joke.

I will continue joking, and you can stay serious.

We take our JF-17s pretty serious! :P
AND
I will recommend others to do the same! :) (If you know what i mean)

Stay serious, we are retired, and there is no ACR being written.

Isn't it sanction prone ?

So is 70% of Pakistan conventional capability.

1. ahh...... the bent ones. theres always one isnt there.

2. as for hmd's theres a few options out there. south africa, china and europe. but we have to wait for the block3 as its likely they will go for italian vinex aesa radars. im not sure if the italians have an hmd to offer. your current acm has also made it clear that he want the next gen bird to be as indeginous as possible so chances are that you may buy designs and develop it. thats unlikely though.

3. well a well known turkish news site has said its pakistan who getting the aselpod, so yeh the jf-17 is getting that then. all it need is intregating and qualifying.
if an open competition is held do you tink western vendors will be happy to supply the iris-t, asraam or even the aim-9x?

I am not the HMD expert, but there is no South African Helmet left in production. From Europe, there is Thales Top Owl and Striker family from BAE Systems. Availability of both for JF17 is questionable. The Chinese HMD, which PAF may accept for JF17, is far from being ready. There is no Italian HMD, and they fly Striker in EFT. When an HMD does come, it will be for all aircraft, and driven by a reverse integration with ATP and HOB AAM.
Regarding ASELPOD, it seems like the Turkish are violating their non-disclosure clause in the contract and confirming that ASELPOD is for Pakistan JF17. If that is true, then it would be right along my earlier analysis.

the cobra is being developed by denel and bae systems. they can help you if you choose to develop the chinese hmd.
as for the turkish pod...... well probably because its a first for them.
as for the hobs missiles..... well the a darter is the way to go

You are a Thunder rider. You should know. I just have my opinions. However, i register your sarcasm, but will not reciprocate young man.

Thank you sir for your reply. Obviously I don't know everything since I'm no 'serving' Thunder rider lol, but I'm a keen enthusiast thou like everyone on this forum.

FBW will eventually be qualified. There is no space for OBOGS till now. For CFTs, wing design would need to be changed. While all these are under consideration, there are real-estate and engineering limitations, and supplier limitations as well.

So will we see any possible changes in JFT's design in any near future.... so it will be able to incorporate OBOGS, CFT's or a bigger and better engine ?

Aselsan of Turkey is working to develop a similar system to the French TopOwl Helmet, called the AVCI Helmet Integrated Cueing System. The system can also be further modified & utilized in JFT block-3.

Cobra is striker 1. The only IP that came from South Africa at the time was the tracker, which is now Airbus DS. The Gripen HMD in South Africa is same as HMSS in EFT.

A Darter is a good weapon, in hands of a bad sales channel.

Yes, its is quite likely that Turks cannot hold their excitement, for such a large avionics breakthrough for their industry.

PAF would prefer mature system, otherwise build for you and hope it work is already available in China.

Okay, then you just like, an enthusiast ;) No such changes as you mention are final. All those require design iteration which may not happen or the first 150 birds.
