Popular support is not the same as democracy.so... essentially China is a democracy.. glad more people are starting to realize that
Oh, I'm not calling your country North Korea style politics. It has become less party oriented and more person oriented. As Xi consolidated powers on an unprecedented level, who knows, odds are he needs popular support to continue his reign. And for that he needs a cult or fan following.
Clap your hands
Because religion doesn't give a damn about Chinese people's welfare? The question answers itself. Then why is the Chinese government so afraid of religions ?
That still does not explain why the Chinese government MUST persecute religions.Because religion doesn't give a damn about Chinese people's welfare? The question answers itself.
That has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with religion.do you want to live in a robotic society where kids get run over by cars and no one stands to help? HELL NAW!!
That has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with religion.
You are talking as if the most religious counties on earth are the most pious, moral etc. That's the opposite if you look at it carefully. Which countries are the most corrupt, chaotic, dishonest, greedy, selfish even among their own people? Having been to many countries(as a tourist mostly) from Europe to Asia to Australia to Africa to the middle east to south America I will say that the countries who were most corrupt even publicly, chaotic were mostly the most religious ones in subsaharan africa and middle East and south Asia to a lesser extent.
It's in every region in the world. However, it varies in degree, and I found out that some of the 'most religious' ones in the regions I mentioned were the worse in this regard. Maybe we had different experiences.Found it too in Religious part of Europe too... like Italy /spain and Eastern Europe and the US... and in some extent even more than those "other" countries you traveled too...
..
That again might be disputed by many. However, even so, my point that religion played a minor role is valid to some extent. The main culprit as always is mankind itself. Human beings are greedy, wicked, and power hungry by nature. If you don't adopt a system that curtails, restrains and controls our greed and bad behaviour(to an acceptable level) then it will flourish irrespective of how religious the country is. So I don't think we can say because of religion human beings will be less greedy, selfish or power hungry. Only the system/institutions/accountability and in some cases punishment can limit that, Period.the Thing ppl fail to graspt is that throughout history.. atheism or paganism were the "savage" less civilized ones... Child sacrifice -Cannibalism etc... and Religion gave the limits that we know of today...
.
I'm not an expert but I think Christian Scientists are the only Christian sect that believes in that sort of thing. I don't think they are a major part of the scene: one obit I read referred to the death of a prominent follower who refused treatment as, "another victim of Christian Science."“Many poor households have plunged into poverty because of illness in the family. Some resorted to believing in Jesus to cure their illnesses,” Qi said. “But we tried to tell them that getting ill is a physical thing -

I do not care about your welfare, so you must fight me ? That make no sense.
By no means do ALL forms of religion endorse conflict. What you have to watch out for are the supremacists who are out to replace everyone else with their own.Because that made China the safest country in the world, without violent religious/sectarian conflicts.
