What's new

javed akhtar talks about Hindi and urdu

.
Why has he been invited to Pakistan? The aftermath of the Mumbai attacks this man made several anti Pakistan statements.

Hilarious...
I think to speak good Urdu, French, Persian, Arabic, Chinese you generally need a much higher IQ.
Hindi is like a common man's version of this elite language so very low-IQ would be okay. Same goes for English..to speak in a proper accent, you need certain level of IQ and education while Hinglish is a downgraded version of that...so you see the pattern here.
A person who can't pronounce "zaroori" rather says "jaroori" and to "Javed" pronounces "Zaved" means he lacks the mental faculty to see the difference.

I disagree...hindi is an extremely sophisticated language..dont make comments on something you dont have any idea about..

I have made a comment with thorough conviction and research. Basically, hindi was invented by the common man to communicate with the elite..royals who spoke Persian and Urdu. Same goes for Hinglish.

Tell me how is Hinglish different from urdu?one is hindi+persian+arabic and another is hindi+English. .both hinglish and urdu are bastardised versions of khariboli

Urdu is language of muslim nobility and court with all its refinements, etiquettes etc

Hindi was just a derivative for the commoner so they could listen to their lords etc

Hindi is downgraded version of Urdu created by the commoners to interact with rulers at that time.

That's what I'm telling him

No..thats not sufficient. .how is that downgraded urdu which you call hindi different from urdu?does hindi have different adjectives?different verbs ,different postpositions ,different conjunctions or different adverbs?just becausr you have different nouns doesnt make it a different language..
Suppose someone said mein water pee raha hu instead of paani pee raha hu..would you say he is speaking a different language simply because he used a different noun water?prove me urdu is grammatically diferent from hindi and i will accept urdu is a different language

Doesn't it then all boils down to the definition of refinement and etiquettes of muslim nobility and court?
Also u may wanna read a lil about the history of Urdu.
Ill give u burnol in advance.

:rofl::rofl:

The Indian Muslims allowed to appear on the indian media is really hilarious. Either they invite mullahs like Owaisi or atheists with Arab/persian names. Now the 2 people sitting Javed Akhtar and Kausar Munir are both atheists/lyricists from Indian film industry.

I guess all the mainstream Indian Muslims are in ghettoes like Thane-Mumbra

If there is an understanding by Muslim world body someday that only those people will be adjudged Muslims whose children are Muslim and are buried [not cremated rofl]. How many 'Indian Muslims' according to their Hindu brethren will be left as Muslims. Religious freedom, sickularism hahahaahah

I am delighted that Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azami went to Lahore (a brave thing to do for Indians these days) to the Faiz festival (especially when Faiz's daughter was denied participation in a conference in India in May 2018, despite having a multi-entry visa, being an advertised speaker and a hotel reservation. (After arriving in Delhi the powers-that-be had the hotel cancel her reservation and the conference organizers remove her from the list of participants.)

There are so many Farsi words in Urdu that IMHO in order to speak good Urdu; one should also know some Farsi/Persian. Speaking for myself, it was difficult to for me fully understand many poets such as Faiz, Iqbal & Ghalib until I learnt Farsi.

Farsi also helps in correcting pronunciation. Admittedly there are some basic differences; such as similar to ‘Jabkeh’ (when), in Farsi one pronounces Ahestah (slow) as ‘Ahesteh’.

Before 1947, many non-muslims wrote and spoke excellent Urdu; for example, Krishan Chandar was an Urdu 'Afsana' writer par excellence & few could better Rajinder Sing Bedi in writing dialogues in Urdu. Fassana'e Azad by Pundit Ratan Nath Sarshar is an Urdu classic.
It is a pity that Urdu was identified with the Muslims and by writing Urdu in Devanagari script, it is now commonly mispronounced in India. Thankfully, efforts of the people like Khushwant Sing have kept Urdu alive.
