That's a very insightful analysis, Nefer. It is sad to hear and see that liberalism in Europe has eroded their traditional cultural values. I think the United States is still somewhat insulated. From my experience here (well in NJ that is) people here are still somewhat traditional. Perhaps its different in other parts of the country, who knows.
Can't say its the fault of liberalism, I think its more engineering of peoples in a nation than liberalism. The more you go away from the cities the more traditional the people are, I also see that back in people who are comming to work or following their study in the local university from outside the cities.
At the moment in the Cities the people are living a care-free/reckless life, but life is getting more expensive each year and Dutch government has some budget problems, because they have this socialist system, for example low income family can have it better than a lower middle class family because of all the government programs of rent-help and you don't have to pay water cleaning costs(which keeps increasing., because people keep dumping all kinds of chemicals trough the drain), garbage collection costs and healthcare support and support children support money. This makes a huge difference arround 2-4k eur a year difference. and the taxes here are quite steep. it starts with 34% and it goes up to 52%(loan tax is 16%, but...... social programs will fill it to 52%) so if a lower midlde class earns just enough to deliver 42% of his income won't get any government support..... he is basicly legally gettig robbed.
University culture : Well people generally are all nice and clam, but even though it ranks high in the top 100s, I am not sure if those statistics are correct, a Dutch newspaper reported that In the Netherlands the University of Leiden had a score of 58% followed by University of Delft and that all other universities were coming after those. BUT Dutch Universities have high research scores.
Also Healthcare is getting worse till such a degree, that when they are diagnosed with a serious decease they go to turkey to double check it, just to be sure, but besides that, I heared some really messed up stories about people almost losing their new-born's, because the hospitals were saying nothing is wrong..... Also waiting lists and man the corruption...
Very profound ! I had never known of this deep seated mistrust of the Turks. Do all Europeans really feel this way? It is just unfair...
I know from German Turks that they are getting alienated, in the Netherlands there are a honest families, and there were people who awaited the arrival of Turks because they had a highly image of how the ottoman Turks with their Islamic values were, they were shocked and disappointed, because the immigrants weren't of the best kinds because problematic Turkish republic history. They had a saying Prefer Turks than the Pope. However do mind that not all Dutch were like that. 25 years ago in a certain place we got threatened by dead by local newspapers and local inhabitants because we were opening a turkish community center which also serves as a Mosk..... Luckily there was a Dutch which helped us a lot to calm the situation <_<.
There has been a quite culture shift in the last 40 years from then, I tend to have better human relations with the previous generation than the new one. they tend to wear a masquerade. New generations in the cities tend to think more in the manner of I don't care what happens in the world or around me, as long as I can life as I can. I don't care. And degenerate culture is getting quite mainstream here, For example 190k kids are born each years 2/3th of them are Dutch, 1/3rd immigrants and 80k are born from not married couples, and I hear some really disturbing stuff when it comes to couple loyalty in a degree that I almost have the need to puke.
I can keep writing on, but I think you get the image. In Short, I don't see how their reckless behaviour is sustainable and the new generation which will come after this one, I don't have high hopes and since the world is dynamic Netherlands may be entering a problematic situation. Personally I am thinking to move to Sweden in 4 years time, before I go back to Turkey
Sacrifice was high though, very very high
