Is this the rebirth of fascism or rather the flourish of the never-dead-fascism in Japan? First Abe denied invading Asian neighbors in WWII, and now they are saying what America did in WWII to save Asia-Pacific was against humanitarian principles? Those Japanese had long lost 'humanity' before America tried to end the war, no wonder the current crop of Japanese politicians (and whoever is supporting them) have no shame left now.

A document released by the Japanese government says that the bombing of Tokyo by the United States in 1945 was against the “humanitarian principles of international law”. The document was endorsed by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in response to a question filed by Mizuho Fukushima, leader of the opposition Social Democratic Party and an Upper House member.

However, the document does not directly criticize the US for their actions, only saying that there are varied opinions on whether or not the US acted in direct violation of international law during that time. It just mentions that at the time, the Japanese government filed a protest with the US government after the bomb raid that killed a little over 100,000 people in what is considered as the worst and deadliest single air raid of World War II. The US claims that the war with Japan during that time was being fought against fascism.

On March 10, 1945, around 330 American B-29s dropped incendiary bombs on Tokyo, in what was codenamed Operation Meetinghouse. The firestorm razed to the ground almost a quarter of the city and left more than a million people homeless. More air raids followed in April and May, but none as destructive as this one. Five months after the March raid, the Japanese surrendered to the US forces, leading to the end of World War II.

The standards of the time accepted mass bombings of cities. That the Japanese could endure such a destruction of their capital and still remain gung-ho for war was a reason why Americans assessed that a U.S. invasion of their homelands would be necessary to defeat Japan and casualties for such an invasion would be numbered in the millions. The two atomic bomb attacks shocked Japan into surrender and were mercy by comparison - and they killed fewer Japanese than the Tokyo firebombing did.

I know enough about the bombing of Tokyo. After the Japanese killed and slaughtered tens of million innocent people and burnt numerous cities to ground in Asia-Pacific, they forced U.S. to bomb Tokyo to stop these warmongering fascists from killing. In short, they were responsible for the bombing of their cities and they certainly deserved it.

Many regrettable things were committed in times of war. The Japanese were responsible for a great deal of injury to allied soldiers and territories that were subjugated by the "Greater East Asian Co Prosperity Sphere".

So imagine the casualties fighting for other Japanese islands would have been - Why should U.S lose the brave soldiers if it had a powerful arsenal?

Absolutely. We were supposed to use the atom bombs on Nazi Germany, however, Berlin had collapsed. Imperial Japan refused to accede to unconditional surrender. Hence the decision to test the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
