Don't know how I may sound but I do think there's some value in what @Bangla25 has said about Rain Man and it might even be applicable to a large number of West Bengalis. I don't find any real reason behind such hatred by them against us, consider our part, yes many Bangladeshis hate India but the hatred for India is a different thing, I've never met any Bangladeshi who hates West Bengal. Partition memories? Oh please, 70 years is a long time...

Deep inside, many West Bengalis are indeed struggling to convince themselves that they had made the right decision in '47 to remain under Indian Union especially after seeing us progressing so well. That makes them to fruitlessly highlight us as a failed state.

To be honest, I am glad WB opted to remain a part of India in '47 because if they were part of a bigger Bangladesh now then the Hindu population would be around 40-45%, which would have weakened our status as a Muslim majority nation.

As for Bangladeshi people's attitude towards WB, I think most are completely oblivious of them. When was the last time you saw a Bangladeshi talking to a Hindu Bengali? I've not known any of my family, relatives, friends ever strike a friendship with a Hindu Bengali. However, we are neutral towards them (neither like them nor hate them) as opposed to say, Indians, who most Bangladeshis hate.

Even during 1947 many of the people who stayed on the other side wanted a greater Bengal they are the patriot Bengali. Both Hindu and Muslim. Yeah majority of Hindus didnt want. They are the traitor. Rain man falls into this category.

BD economy does not go downhill with the economic cycle like India does.

With the coming rebasing of BD GDP to 2011-2012 base year, and when India has a sharp slowdown before the end of decade, BD should surpass India by 2020 in GDP per capita.

Right. Because BD economy is blessed by Allah. Normal rules of economics don't apply here.
The slowdown was because of the useless Congress rule which went into paralysis following the revelation of scam after scam 2011 onwards when Banerjee's TMC left UPA. Today BJP itself has full majority in the lower house and after it wins UP and Bihar elections, it will have majority in the upper house as well and THEN our growth will really start.
Indian economy saw some paper reforms in 1991. Actual movement on the ground only started with BJP led NDA from 1999 till 2004. From then our economy is basically in inertia and all the growth during UPA regime was largely a result of IT sector which did not need reforms as it was new and highly unregulated as it is. Now, in about 2 (After UP elections) years as reforms once again pick up pace on the ground, our country will race ahead at 10%+. You can only see Indian 'sharp slowdown' in your wet dreams Bangladeshi.

India will suffer very sharp slowdown(towards end of decade) as it is reliant on IT exports to the US and other Western economies while BD will suffer little as it's exports are not that much hampered by a global downturn - at least not for this decade anyway.

BD will start to grow at sustained 8%+ a year by start of next decade once some of the major infrastructure projects like Padma bridge, Roopur nuclear power plant and Matarbari coal-fired power plant are ready.

India, on the other hand, will struggle to grow by any-more than 7% a year sustained average and so BD will over time get a higher GDP/capita than India.

Do you never read properly?

I said that BD still needs to rebase it's GDP to 2011-2012 base year like India has done.
This rebasing will add 15-20% extra to BD GDP/capita and so nearly already equal to India GDP/capita.

Then towards the end of the decade, the Western economies will enter another recession, and India's IT industry will be hit hard and so expect growth to get down to 5% for 2-3 years.

BD will not suffer as much as it's exports will still be little affected by worldwide slowdowns - they will in a decade from now but not before then.

Surpassing India will not exactly be a great achievement for BD. India is looked down upon in BD to be honest.
