***** Japan Threatens to Stop Funding UNESCO *****

Why not. If we're going to put in all the bad incidents in history, then, why bias on one? Mark every single negative event in history that lead to the deaths of thousands of thousands. Its only fair.
UNESCO care about site, not event. Nanjing Massacre occurred within a specific location, area, and site so it worth's remembering. Now if Japan applied for Fukushima Nuclear disaster because of the poor handling by the govt to UNESCO, then that too deserve to be accepted because it reference a location an event happened. Are we clear on this? LOL

That was a bit poor taste of you, buddy. Nuclear situation in Fukushima isn't something one should laugh about. I have NEVER EVER laughed at or even joked around regarding any travesties Japan did in China or let alone any of the humanitarian crises that happened around the world.

Be that as it may, my point stands: If we're going to start posting Nanjing Massacre events in China, which is fine by me, the UNESCO needs to apply a more objective and transparent historical analysis then that requires all parties to list the historical human rights abuses and their locations. They should consider the following:
  • Japanese concentration camps in the United States
  • The Trail of Tears for the Native American population
  • The Spanish liquidation of Tenochtitlan City in Mexico during the Conquista led by Hernan Cortez
  • The Portuguese and Spanish slave trade centers in the Caribbean
  • The British slave system used in the New World and their slave centers in the Caribbean
  • The Roman annihilation of Judea in the 1st century AD

Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera....

What? How can that be poor taste. For Fukushima nuclear disaster to be accepted to UNESCO is an honor. It allows the world the remember that day an event occurred.

All of your listed events are acceptable if it occurred within a unique location.

I guess this post show most people lacking of Critical Thinking Skill

There are 2 issues on this.

1.)Whether or not the Nanjing Massacre site/document should be listed in the UNESCO archive
2.)Japanese reaction to UNESCO.

Set aside if Nanjing Massacre site should be listed. It's honestly quite stupid to say Japan act childish on the issue. The reaction is normal as they are the only reasonable way for a country to protest, otherwise there are nothing else...US would have done the same if Vietnam loge an application on My Lai massacre site to UNESCO....

The question itself should be whether or not Nanjing Massacre site should be listed. And to be fair, that did cover two other question, the first one is, if Nanjing Massacre should be listed, then what about the other massacre? Then tomorrow even sandy hook would start UNESCO application......

Another question is that is Massacre relate to world peace? Which was the main aim of UNESCO program.

I can accept any debate on whether or not the site should be admitted. But if all you want to talk about is how Japanese being childish, then you should also call yourselves childish to begin with...

NO. You know what you were doing and You know it. The way you wrote that statement and ended it with LOL. You are trying to pick at a scab by referring to Fukushima and ending it with a "LOL"..

No, a nuclear crisis that happened due to the largest tsunami Japan had experienced in over 200 years is NOT SOMETHING you should be "LOLING" to.

As I said, poor taste. On your part.

Below is the UNESCO's statement of significance for Auschwitz being a heritage site.

The site is a key place of memory for the whole of humankind for the holocaust, racist policies and barbarism; it is a place of our collective memory of this dark chapter in the history of humanity, of transmission to younger generations and a sign of warning of the many threats and tragic consequences of extreme ideologies and denial of human dignity.

On that, I would suggest the headquarter of Unit 731 being submitted for UNESCO heritage site as well.

The PDF Chinese Platoon has no decency when they trash-talk other countries, mocking any tragedy on other countries this platoon (and their country and government) deem as hostile. It is no use to talk to the likes of BuddhaPalm, xunzi, Beidou2020, HongWu002, j20blackdragon and others, as well as the other pro-China members here, they will attack you with words and will never stop.

Just ask the Indian, Viet and other Filipino (except opruh and Fsjal) members.

Not all Chinese members resort to insulting and insipid posts. Not all of them resort to stealth trolling. I will not name the ones who act very respectful because usually they are labelled (ironically by @Keel and other chinese right wingers) as "Chinese wasabis" or "Hanjian" or "Japanese lover". As if having an objective mind and not resorting to putative trolling and name calling is a bad thing. Its almost akin to paranoia. As if being associated with Japan and Japanese or GOD FORBID having Japanese friends is a bad thing ! Serious...WTF! I just can't believe the things these trolls say!!

I can't help but laugh whenever i read ridiculous comments because its as if these trolls make it seem that Japanese are some kind of boogey man. Seriously? Next time i should ask my students whether or not I am a boogey man. Who knows maybe i should dress up as myself for Halloween so when my students ask me "what are you dressing for hallowee?" i'll just tell them, "Oh, i'm dressing up as myself. Since apparently Japanese are boogey men, so hence, i'm dressing up as a boogey man."

It is really hard to understand why they comment negatively or make unnecessary comments about a disaster as if they are mocking them, though it is easy why they want to do it - misplaced nationalism or misguided patriotism/nationalism.

No it is just very poor taste, and reflects a lack of ethical and moral consideration. Period.

First of all, I have no problem with anyone FOR OR AGAINST the site being listed, as long as your reason is valid, you can talk your arse out of anything.

My point being, debate the point, not Japanese reaction.

Secondly. As I said before, Massacre, any kind of massacre no matter how big or small, are too serve as a reminder for people, and that tragic consequence would not happen again. So, what say is the limit of the people to be killed to be listed on the site? For me, killing 10 innocent people have the SAME effect than killing 100 million innocent people. Hence what you quote essentially could be use to cover every and any massacre.

Precisely and it is most appropriate to the Nanjing Massacre Registry contrary to the jpnese right-wings protests on forums, in the government and elsewhere

On that, I would suggest the headquarter of Unit 731 being submitted for UNESCO heritage site as well.

Agreed and of course!

And my post was deleted. I insulted no one personally, no country, no nationality. But to protect Chinese sensitivity...

Have you signed up for American Military Forum?
