Japan imposes sanctions against Russia under US pressure — Tokyo Governor

back to topic :
I think this sanction is only a kind of formalities. Well sanctioning individuals from Crimea and Donetsk won't disturb the the relation between two countries much. Of course, those individuals are doomed. They won't be able to enjoy Japanese Onsen, eat Sushi, and Ramen; or Shopping in Ginza anymore. But as long as the oil from Russia flow to Japan, and Honda, Mitsubishi, and Toyota still can sell their wares to Moscow, who care?

But, I think that those individuals who got persona no grata from Japan should be thankful for this sanction. At least, they don't have to spent their money to buy over prize Japanese food.

Bingo!

Its good to see some of your rational points and good observation. Though we have different views for certain things, I admire your opinion related to the topic. It's just not that easy.

It is beyond logic why some insane people have fetish for being anti-China and hardcore rigid love for murderers who massacred civilians population in China during WII and in through out of the History and your own ally US bombed them Japan to hell for the horrendous crimes/acts committed. Again it an illogical assumption that becoming Militarily strong means Aggression upon other, Nobody believes Germany despite high Military budget is an aggressive tri arm. By the way japan knows nothing it still is in US shackles can't even ask them to vacate bases despite major protests by local Japanese population.

Aggressive posture is virtuoso, it means no powerful Nation would submit to illegal demands, Russia is undisputed most reliable Ally of Great China.
The "crimes" Japan commited were ages ago. Today Japan is light of east-Asia. They are threatening nobody while China is threatening every neighbor and occupying and suppressing Uighur and Tibetans on their own land. Also if you do a comparison. China commited much larger crimes IMHO. They killed 60 million HUMANS under communism and even today they are continuing their suppression and massacres on occupied territories. Japan in WW2 is an angel compared to China's current policies IMHO.

Japan is a submissive power as their society is submissive in general. But this submissive tendency is just a reality of Japan internal weakness.

Thanks bro @atatwolf . You are absolutely right in stressing that it's important to get passed historical events. The problems in this current era is nigh. Thank God we have dependable partners such as Turkey.

You act like a mosquito and have half as much brainpower, so I won't waste too much time on you. No matter how advanced Japan is, it doesn't change what Turkey is, and we all know what Turkey is.

I am disappointed. Not condemning discrimination and aggression is equivalent to committing it. Looks like you are just a typical unthinking sheep rather than a true critical thinker.

Putin may delay Japan visit over Tokyo's Ukraine sanctions: Russian state newspaper| Reuters

(Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin may delay his visit to Japan because of sanctions Tokyo has imposed on Russia for its role in the Ukraine crisis, Moscow's acting ambassador to Japan was cited as saying by Russian state media on Thursday.

Japan, in a coordinated move with Western countries, has imposed sanctions on Moscow for its annexation of the Crimea peninsula in March and its involvement in a pro-Russian rebellion in eastern Ukraine. Moscow denies sending troops and arms to the area.

However, Tokyo's measures against Russia have been lighter than those of the United States or the European Union, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has continued to try to court Moscow despite relations already being strained by a long-running territorial dispute.

"Sanctions of course have affected our relationship. In particular, we are talking about the schedule of contacts which was agreed upon and worked out," Yevgeniy Afanasiev told Russia's official newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta.

"We had built a very clear timetable to prepare for the visit of Vladimir Putin to Japan. Unfortunately that schedule has been moved," he said.

Putin himself would decide whether or not to travel to Japan, Afanasiev added.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov could not be reached for comment.

Japan is hoping to forge close energy and economic ties with Russia following decades of troubled relations between the two countries over a series of disputed islands that Russia seized during World War Two.

Russia seized the islands - known as the Southern Kuriles in Russia and the Northern Territories in Japan - near the end of the war and the dispute has prevented the neighbors from signing a formal peace treaty.

Last month, Japan "strongly protested" against Russia holding military exercises on the islands.

Last week EU member states agreed on new sanctions against Russia over military involvement in the five-month war in eastern Ukraine. The new sanctions would come into force on Friday, an EU diplomat has told Reuters.
