It's Official: Kaveri Will Power India's UCAV

Two bits of information from the government landed today confirming that India's in-development Kaveri turbofan is being officially looked at, in modified form, to power the country's secret stealth UCAV, codenamed AURA, a programme that was first revealed here on Livefist.

First, Indian defence minister A.K. Antony told Parliament today, "Kaveri spin-off engine can be used as propulsion system for Indian Unmanned Strike Air Vehicle (USAV)." (Never a shortage of acronyms in Indian defence projects).

A few hours later, a few kilometres away at the headquarters of the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), as part of an annual awards ceremony, scientist Vikram Singh of the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) received the Young Scientist Award for his "valuable contribution in design of a controllable flying wing UCAV configuration for KAVERI Engine."

Is this the final design....

Is this the final design....

No dude, thats not AURA at all. See my previous post in this thread, the completed AURA
will most probably look the closest to that

Don't get me wrong, One should rather indulge in projects one can complete in time rather than getting involved in more than one can handle, These all projects are brilliant but problem is that having so many things on the plate means everything gets less attention and not one project is being completed. Flame on but that's the truth, IMHO These politicians announce such projects to get cheap political gains and nothing more

so u mean this plane is for getting votes?

when pakistanis politicians openly say "hum india se 1000 years ladai karenge", ppl give them votes. and they make missiles ppl give them even more votes. fortunately this doesnt happen in india. no one in this country even knows about aur projects.

now coming to completion and attention on projects. again ur saying that by keeping delayed tejas and kaveri in mind. that was past present se sitara, hal lch, awacs, nuke sub, ac, aad pad, swordfish, rta 70, luh etc. all of these are on time but actually some are ahead of time(lch, sitara). our country in last 10 yrs has collected over 10000 scientists in defence sector, over 7000 in drdo alone who can now build anything we them too. and gvt will never stop funding to drdo. the only reason govt of india is not allowing fdi in defence is bcoz they want to make drdo superstrong and world competitive in this field. work in drdo is divided in 52 labs who work on different projects rather than one lab working on all projects. if we reduce the projects half of the scientists will be sitting free.

u have nothing to worry all our projects will complete on time.

anyone wanna have a lookat aura design??....have a look at my pic:):)

Which means kaveri will eventually end up powering some dishwashers..Since how many years this has been under development now..perhaps the world more longest under development..wow..it has to be a supah perfect..and supah powerrrrrrrrrrrr!! YAAAAAAAAAAH!

Kaveri has more thrust than RD-93 FYI in its current stage. What is GRSE supposed to do if IAF keeps changing requirements after every 2-3 years? In the last 15 years, IAF has changed requirements at least 5 times for the engines alone. After that the sanctions came in (at that time French weren't our consulting partners).

If you didn't know, Kaveri was initiated much later than the WS-10 engine program (which started by the name of WS-9 engine program, much before Kaveri and is still yet to be mass produced).

One more thing; Kaveri's derivative technology already powers some of our Navy's corvettes. So much for dishwashers. :coffee:

lol I misread it as "Kolaveri song" instead of Kaveri.

It's official because it has been reported in a blogpost? and referenced to another blog?

Kaveri (GTX-35VS)'s thrust is currently inadequate to power Tejas that needs a more
powerful engine, but to power drones, it would be more than enough. Imagine that
drone flying at supersonic speeds and launching JDAMs, AASMs, or other weapons
onto bunkers, buildings, parliament, capital city, shores, and public toilets in pakistan...ah! :woot:

I really wonder when pakistan is going to build its drones...oh, perhaps i should have
spelt "when they're going to buy their drones".

Speed up, pakistani friends, we've started to build our own drones and you
are yet to even buy them from aboard!!! :triniti:
