Its not a new chapter yet but the way the BNP leadership is falling over itself to kiss Indian feet it soon might be. Ziaur Rahman would not have bowed his head so low to come to power. He would have stood on principle and his political ideology. The BNP is selling out everything so it can get permission from India to come to power and to bring Tareque back. That is disgraceful ......

But you took it because it is hard for your country to get loans from international donors. ;) Myanmar got a loan of $500 million from India for infrastructure projects.

Are you talking about elevated expressway. But how an elevated expressway from Chittagong to Sabroom will cost 7 billion. :cheesy:

The CREDIT was pushed through a weak AL govt. But, as many of the project modalities remain to be finalized most of the money remain unsused.

India wants an overland transit that will take less time than it is through Chittagong or through Siligury. Ctg to Sabroom transit or the present inland water transit routes are good only for Tipura. A shorter route from Benapole to Sylhet is a transit which will require a lot of investment. A MoU has already been signed, but modalities remain to be discussed and sorted out.

This route is supposed to be elevated expressway in conjunction with many river bridges. India should pay for it. But, note one thing. BKZ has already asked for a Chinese loan to build the 2nd Padma Bridge. If it happens like this I can see India missing the transit. This Padma Bridge is supposed to be one of the river links for Indian transit, but, since the future GoB does not want Indian investment, therefore, no way India will get any transit.

I think since India supports Tariq, he must be a good guy. Is it true..how is he ?

It does matter. China is an ally, India is enemy.

and I am sure you won't mind her shaking hands with Sushma Swaraj of BJP either.

BKZ met also the opposition leaders during this visit. It shows her political maturity because the Congies will be ousted and BJP will again be ushered in in the next election.

You should write another book about this feet-kissing affair. Mullahs like you are always for a 'Fasad' with India so that India makes more trouble for BD. If India is an enemy, then BD KatMullahs are more Dushman of the country. Get lost to your Pakistan. You are inventing here many things. Feet kissing to get into power, feet kissing to get Tareque into power, US does not want Tareque so BKZ is feet kissing India. You must be the most shameless lier fond of spreading rumours. Your political analysis is so shallow! By degrading BNP you are degrading Bangladesh. But, why should you care, because no Razaakar belongs
to this country.

that has nothing to do with maturity....any visiting foreign dignitary will meet both the head of the state and the leader of the opposition....standard protocol mate.

Khaleda likely to meet Pranab today
Our Correspondent, New Delhi

Bangladesh's Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia is likely to meet Indian President Pranab Mukherjee here this morning shortly before returning to Dhaka after wrapping up her visit to New Delhi.

The meeting between Mukherjee and Khaleda was to have taken place soon after her arrival here on October 28 for the week-long visit but it was put off.

After Khaleda's meeting with the main opposition BJP's President Nitin Gadkari at his residence yesterday afternoon, BNP Vice Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury told media persons that the meeting between the Indian president and the party chief has been fixed at 10:30 hours today.

Mobin also said Khaleda and Gadkari had discussed issues of bilateral interest, including Teesta water-sharing and border killings, and agreed that a resolution of pending issues would help further strengthen the ties between the two countries.

Gadkari said today's young generation is more concerned about poverty and once this problem is solved, relation between the two countries is bound to improve.

On October 28, Khaleda had met another BJP leader Sushma Swaraj soon after her arrival in New Delhi.

Earlier in the day, Khaleda returned from Jaipur after a two-day visit to India's Pink City and paying obeisance to the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer.

Since her arrival, Khaleda had met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai and National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon.

Khaleda to Meet Pranab Today

NEW DELHI, NOV 2: Opposition chief Khaleda Zia will meet Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday on the last day of her weeklong visit. Vice-Chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, one of the entourage members of the BNP Chairperson, told reporters about the meeting at a press briefing at Hotel Taj Palace on Friday night, reports bdnews24.com "Before leaving for home, the Opposition Leader will meet President Pranab Mukherjee at 10:30am on Saturday at Rashtrapati Bhavan (the official residence of the President)," he said.

Though Khaleda was scheduled to meet the President on the first day of her tour on Oct 28, the meeting was rescheduled due to the oath-taking ceremony of the newly installed Cabinet members which was administered by the President the same day. Chowdhury, a former diplomat-turned-politician, said the former Prime Minister would fly for Dhaka by a Jet Airways flight at 12:30pm (India time).

Khaleda kicked off her India tour last Sunday on invitation of the Indian government.
With only a year to the parliamentary elections, the BNP considers the visit 'very significant' while India says it 'is part of their engagement with Bangladesh's democratic and multiparty polity'.
During her tour, she also met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, National Security Adviser of India Shivshankar Menon, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and BJP President Nitin Gadkari.

Bilateral issues like Teesta water sharing, Tipaimukh Dam project, border killing and trade deficit were high on agenda during her meetings with the top Indian leaders.
She also visited Ajmer Sharif in the Indian state of Rajasthan and offered prayers at the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

She last visited to India in 2006 as the Prime Minister. Our Correspondent adds from Delhi: Begum Zia was unable to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

In what was comparatively an uneventful day for BNP Chief and Leader of the Opposition in Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia had only one consequential meeting with Nitin Gadkari, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, India’s major Opposition Party.

Not initially on the agenda, this meeting, it is learnt was at the behest of Gadkari. According to Samsher Mobin Chowdhury, Gadkari had expressed a desire to meet Begum Zia. She had earlier called on BJP’s Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj and had also met senior BJP leader L.K.Advani on the sidelines of the lunch the Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh had hosted for her earlier this week.

The meeting which lasted over 45 minutes was officially described as a “familiarization exercise” given that the two leaders have never met before: “It was” Mobin said “a process of knowing each other”.

Gadkari on his part told Begum Zia that in the state of Maharashtra wherein he had organisized rural development programmes he had used the Grameen Bank example as a role model.

Bhais, when Khaleda came to my mother's office, the office was ordered to change their then commode into a brand new italian commode that cost 7 lac taka alone...... My strongly pro-hasina mother became her fan after exchanging a Salam!!!!!!!!!! This lady looks horrible in photos, but from face to face she is still a beauty, trust me!!!!!
