Iran never had the capability to confront the US directly. That is why they use countless proxies. In a real war, Iran's army would stand no better chance than Saddam's army of 1991.

A war in Iran will not go over well in Pakistan. You should think bigger than your 4 walls. There is a major sea that is shared with Iran, a border with Iran and then there is Afghanistan. Pakistan won't be able to handle that many refugees with its own economic issues. Then there is the Arabian sea to look for... You think a war in Iran won't effect energy costs in Pakistan? If cost of oil goes up then cost of food goes up too and that will be felt globally.

I hope Pakistani military is not stupid enough to join with the Americans on this misadventure. 15-20 percent of Pakistanis are Shia and they are very well organized and connected. This will be a problem on its own.

I am not debating with you on the validity of the US decision to invade Iraq. I agree that was a terrible idea made by the worst admin in US history. But this does not give a free pass for Iran to use its proxies in Iraq to mount unprovoked attacks against American soldiers for the better half of two decades. Iran got what they deserved.

You're talking about country that is full of ancient tribes that needed to be invaded. A few B-2s, 2-3 carrier strike groups, including multiple Virginia class subs....Iran has no chance, which is why they did nothing after Stuxnet. That is why they made a deal in the first place. Providing supplies and training is enough and you should not underestimate other nations. There are many countries that are looking to challenge the American hegemony over the world. Russia and China would love to entrap America in another 20-30 year war with the Iranis. Believe me the Arabs and Jews will not make a collation of the willing with the Americans. The Europeans won't send boots either. Iran and Russia entrapped America in Afghanistan with china buying all the mineral rights.
