Actually, I don't think Iran would do that. During the first Gulf War, Saddam did fire scuds on Israel hoping that Israel would retaliate - if Israel did, the other Arab countries would help Saddam. In such cases, yea - Israel potentially faces an existential threat.

The current Saudi regime is not a threat to Israel. My basis is the instability of Arab states, the general Arab hatred against Israel

Indians started linking Israel after media comparison of India and Israle's dealing with terrorists . especially after the Kandahar airlines hijacking by Pakistani terrorists. After that incident, Indian media and government openly started ways to follow the Israeli example. Other than that, India is very careful not to support Israel as it might offend the Indian muslims.

Bt the way, The historical impotence is for Pakistan which got conquered, converted, tried its best to break India and got broken in the process and re conquered by all its allies now.

btw, i dont necessarily support arabs on everything, i think israel is a reality and deserves peaceful existence, but the way indians now see arabs/islam vis a vis the lenses of biased and bigoted western norms is illuminating.

Actually, Israelis are more likes by common Indians than votebank seeking political parties who are nobody's. The poll that showed India as the most sympathetic country towards Israel was a poll that the authorities took from common ordinary Indians-- not two-timing politicians. So that explains a lot.

Personally, I love them because the way they handle national and regional threats and the dedication Israeli government has towards her people. If GOI had 1/10th that concern, we would have been a serious power in the region right now.

Indian support for any country is exactly same as GoI position on the country. If Indian govt and Israeli govt were against each other, the we will be talking against israel.
I dont know which one comes first, Indian people perception or govt's position on a country.
You will not find many indians talking against Iran too. (same as GoI )
