Without being a cynic, I would like to say that some of the die-hard Islamists living in UK are more extremist minded than many in Pakistan. A while back I was personally accosted by a few Urdu speaking bearded young men outside Regents Park (if I happen to be in the area on Fridays, I would occasionally go there) that voting was un-Islamic.

It is waste of an effort to argue with people who have been brainwashed by the Khilafat/Salafi propaganda. I was also afraid to get beaten up for no reason; else I would ask them to stop living in the ‘Kafiristan’ of the West and go to the heaven of Islamic Emirate of Taliban Afghanistan. I therefore ignored the incident and quitely walked on.

You are wrong about anjem choudhury and their like. I can tell you that all the UK gov did was provide for people's basic needs and allow freedom of speech. What these mullahs did with that freedom is entirely their own choice. AC is always around my area, he has a merry band of followers and many sympathisers - the agencies did not recruit them all.

Dealing with Mullahs in the uk is a very sensitive area for police and agencies alike.

Kindly refrain from implying that only your version of Islam is the correct one and all other are heretics. If humans could decide who true Muslim was, there would be no need for Allah’s decision on the day of judgement.

You are of course free to believe what you like but Salafi Islam is the novation of Ibne Timiyyah. In case you have forgotten; during his life time he was imprisoned by the contemporary Islamic Clerics of Egypt for implying that Allah has a body. Most Pakistanis are Hanafis, who predates Ibne-Timmiyah by about 500 years.

Salafism was revived by Abdul Wahab in the 18th century and remained largely confined to the inner Arabian Peninsula until the House of Saud came to power with the help of the British who were fighting the Muslim Turks.

I would rather say Turks. Salafists are followers of different school of thought within Islam while vast majority of Muslims of South Asia are Followers of Different school of Thought which are Shared by Turks of all people mostly.
