He made a short appearance in a new video although he sounds and looks slightly different than the previous video of him in Mosul. I have a hard time believing he is successfully hiding. PS, he mentions various nations in MENA and Asia but made no mention of Israel or the Palestinians.

He mentioned Saudi Arabia too, not sure why he is still trying to remain relevant. People are over his organization. So it is a relief for the people of the region that their influence has largely died down. However, the region remains ripe for revolution and the ruling parties/camps are not doing enough to give people there hope.

I think you over simplifying this, the situation is more complex than before. ISIS might have lost territory but most of its ideological base is still intact. Elements of ISIS had already melted back in the population across Iraq and Syria and they will be again launching insurgent attacks as before. Not to mention before the defeat, ISIS allocated Wilaya Status to all its foreign branches, including Turkey, Afghanistan and the one in South East Asia. The monster of ISIS is far from dead.
