What's new

Is this true. This is frightening.

From Mughals attacking the Marathas to the end of the Mughals😉

Marathas had defeated combined forces of Mughals and Nizam even before Nader Shah's march to Delhi🙂(Check Battle of Bhopal and Battle of Delhi). Mughals were weakened by the Marathas actually which made it easier for Nader Shah to invade Delhi, which by the way is with India now😜. Marathas even defeated Portugese in the Battle of Vasai, another of the invaders, and kept that at bay.
Anyway, going with the your record of siding with invaders, shouldn't you glorify Nader Shah and be happy about that invasion and sing praises about him? Maybe name a missile after Nader?

Insecurities galore... should have replied all in emojis, no?
Marathas a nuisance, so were Sikhs, what else?

Dig deeper, he escaped the primary force for that war and fought against a hastily prepped secondary force and retreated on the news of main army's return.
Valor, I guess...
Besides, when Brits left India .... Marathas primary opponent, Nizam, was still intact.
Sikhs and Marathas were history long ago.

'The National endowment for democracy.'
As one of its own people put it, they do what the CIA used to do i.e. change goverments.

They destroyed Ukraine with their Orange revolution, and they're trying to destroy Belarus. And they are the ones behind the 'Pro-democracy' riots in Hong Kong.

Umm, a person who extols and is proud about invaders who conquered his own ancestors is speaking about insecurity. Anyway...
Marathas a nuisance, so were Sikhs, what else?
Go ask the Mughals lol. They had a nightmare in the Deccan, didn't they? They literally ceded large swathes of land to the Marathas and eventually asked the Marathas to protect them. The Sikhs too created an empire of their own, only a fool will call that a nuisance.

The downfall of Mughals had started right when they invaded the Deccan under the Marathas.

Dig deeper, he escaped the primary force for that war and fought against a hastily prepped secondary force and retreated on the news of main army's return.
Is strategy and tactics not part of what you understand?

After getting tribute, cash and Malwa being ceded, there was no reason to unnecessarily waste resources.
Besides, when Brits left India .... Marathas primary opponent, Nizam, was still intact.
Nizam was defeated multiple times by Marathas and they were the first to become puppets of the British. Marathas fought wars with the British but I don't see Nizam fighting any war with British. Regardless, your statement still is incorrect because Gwalior, Baroda and other minor Maratha princely states were still around during the British. So please get your facts right😁

Interesting story...
Just one emoji? Aww

I don't want to waste time with Marathas or Sikhs... your original thesis was how great Marathas defeated Mughals pre Nader Shah...
So, now it's just drivel that can keep going ad infinitum... Just to keep me engaged. I guess it gave you that much of a heartburn.
Anyways...
Even in that said decline they(the Moguls) managed a force of 300k men against Nader Shah.
How many times did Marathas faced the full might of Mogul state head on? Without resorting to as you put tactics, like sticking to either forts or choosing ambush? [But this(your response), a distraction, is useless, at best a deflection, a retort on hurt ego and that is about it.]

Nader Shah defeated that Army with a much smaller force...
But you wouldn't know the true impact of that...
I see a person with a tunnel vision.

Perhaps Marathas should have remained one of the many insurgencies afflicting current state of India and call it a military tactic(Kashmiris?). Whatever...
Instead, history!

Oh, and maybe you should have given another post some thought... they(the marathas) themselves were the very reason how Brits got their foot in the door...
Instead they themselves became a roadkill.

Now sing the Swansongs but don't indulge me...

I mean, you idolize the Mughals and you don't want waste time for the reason of their downfall? Ok.

Not really, I just wanted to correct a few facts through references rather than mindless chattering. I find it amusing that you referenced the Marathas in this thread but don't want to waste time on them.

Lol, 3 lakhs? I mean, atleast research a bit before writing something. I don't even need to correct you here.

Marathas were always outnumbered(especially in the initial days) and managed to defeat numerically superior army of the Mughals multiple times. And what is this obsession of a head-on battle, I don't understand. Regardless, one battle that immediately comes to mind is the Battle of Salher, where Mughals were routed by the Marathas in an open field battle.

Nader Shah deciding to invade Delhi is enough testament about the waning of the power of the Mughals. Maybe you should try understanding that. The decline began in the 1690s as the war raged on in the Deccan, Mughal soldiers themselves lived in pitiful conditions. Aurangzeb had gone senile and it was more a matter of prestige for him, he knew his empire was disintegrating. Marathas were raiding the port city of Surat even while the Mughals were in the Deccan.
Perhaps Marathas should have remained one of the many insurgencies afflicting current state of India and call it a military tactic(Kashmiris?). Whatever...
Instead, history!
There's no reason for that.

This is what I call narrow tunnel vision now. There are multiple factors and you can't just pinpoint one reason. As I mentioned before, Marathas played an instrumental role in restricting the Portugese around Goa and even battled the EIC, defeating them in the 1st war.
Now sing the Swansongs but don't indulge me...
I only see random chatter from your side, so thought of correcting you. Don't take it too personally:-).

Just as I depart, here a few texts of the pitiful conditions of Mughals when the Marathas were causing them a 'nuisance'.

PakBrother mine,

The GreatParathaEmpire is still swimming in the Shorba made by the Abdali Forces which included PakTribes from Balochistan as well... we have one or two descendants of those Lashkars @DESERT FIGHTER

It is a joy to see PakPositivism being complimented by PakBrothers enriching the otherwise slate/morbid content here... @peagle yourself meray Pajee @SIPRA .... delight.

Indeed, things need to be seen in their proper context and correct/validated data-points of 'Actual' history.

In the Current Cycle of History ... they do provide the necessary animus for its Momentum.

Tehzeeb and Gagnetics are mutually exculsive.... two opposite Realities.

Personlly, far more important is stability of Afghanistan... at least in the DuraniBelt.... and Resurrection of the Ancient Gateway ...two-way-street... of Energy-Trade Corridor leading to Gwadar and Karachi....

It is Glorious!

Mangus

Paa Jee: We are now small fry. GreatParathaEmpire, under the cooking skills of Modi and other assistant cooks, is now in direct confrontation with GreatNoodlesEmpire. Now it is a fight between Paratha and Noodles.

Cut to the chase Kdart!

What do you seek out of this back and forth?
You quoted me, on my priority list, not up there... so, chatter it is.

Call Moguls whatever you want... doesn't concern me!!! But tell me why marathas trigger you so much?

The perennial underachievers!
Around them foes have come and gone... when their moment came and numbers were with them... Abdali sacked them

Glory dreamt and Brits ate their lunch.
Defend your positions...
Or start one now ... I'd appreciate Marathas finally having their own land, state ... whatever!
Or maybe, Brit carved borders suit you well for now? At least you don't have to do anything yourself except yap about it?

Here we go, another random talk, no facts, nothing. It didn't trigger me my friend, I thought of correcting you. Is correcting another's mistake referred as being triggered?

How are they underachievers when they were responsible for the downfall of your beloved Mughals (the people who you don't have any relation with btw)? I was expecting you to take support of another foreign invader, Abdali. What else can we expect by people who don't even respect their own Maharaja Ranjit Singh. But it's good for us actually if we think about it:-).
Coming to Abdali, the battle was unfortunate but losses are part of it (Abdali himself praises the Marathas btw after the battle). Atleast the Marathas fought unlike some people😜
Their moment never came and Brits ate their lunch.
It came many times and was capitalized, you are just blind to it. India would have been a very different place if not for the Marathas, probably I would have been part of the Mohammedan faith while talking to you over here🤷‍♂️

We have it, again you seem to have very poor knowledge. I haven't seen one credible point from you till now, sad.

This is absolutely ridiculous
This assertion that If it wasn't for marahata - Hindu faith in SC would have been dead

But regardless, there are high chances of that happening especially in the olden times. It was favorable for the people to have the same faith as the king. I have already posted a screenshot where Aurangzeb imposed additional taxes on Hindus so as to convert them Islam. The poor people care about their daily bread and family than their faith. Plenty of examples where Hindu kings were given additional lands on converting to Islam, which in turn resulted in some conversion of the local people.

Whatever man...
How do I scrape you off my shoes?
I see that you are offended, angered and triggered!!!
Should I start equally copying and pasting search results anchoring my positions?
Garbage in, garbage out!
Besides being an irrelevant tangent... that a stray got a glimpse off and out of his/her virtue went out on correcting me!

Here you go... you win the cake!

On your way... don't quote me Kdart!

Pakistan is easy to control. you are too dependent on the outside world

That's an extremely childish thing to say. And, to top it all it is divorced from reality.

In the 1950s, the Algerian freedom fighters travelled on Pakistani passports to plead their case to the world.
Was Pakistan easy to control? it was much smaller and a new nation, but did what it wanted.

In the 1960's, when Pakistan established strong relations with China and was the first non communist country to start regular flights in and out of China. America threatened Pakistan to stop, but Pakistan did not.
Was Pakistan easy to control? in the end America turned to Pakistan to help start diplomatic relations with China.

In the 1970s, at its weakest point, America threaten Pakistan not to start a nuclear program, they said they will make an example out of Pakistan.
Yet within 10 years Pakistan developed an independent nuclear capability, one of the shortest time spans, using uranium enrichment, a process so difficult, they thought no one except advance nations could do it.
Was Pakistan easy to control?

In the 1980's, Pakistan did the same thing by developing missile program, building an independent missile capability.
It took on and defeated the Soviets in Afghanistan, they told Pakistan to back off, but the Soviets withdrew, and the Americans left.
Was Pakistan easy to control?

In the 1990's, Pakistan was sanctioned to the neck, and all aid stopped, all co-operation halted, to bring Pakistan to its knees, and yet, they came running to Pakistan when they needed help.
Was Pakistan easy to control?

Since the start of this century, Pakistan has been told to DO MORE, it was threatened, pressured with massive terrorism campaign, resulting in large number of deaths and over $150 billions in economic loses, yet it is Pakistan still standing, the rest have run away.
WAS PAKISTAN EASY TO CONTROL?

Please don't provide childish statements, I can give plenty of other examples, but know one thing, Pakistan only co-operates when it decides to do so, taking a step back here and there is not control, it is by choice. No one can control Pakistan. the sooner the world learns this simple fact, the better for everyone.
